Diamond Fluorescence Is 33 Percent

This is a Staggering Statistic that I’m sure will Surprise many…

1/3 of ALL the Diamonds on the Market actually contain Fluorescence to some Degree!

Fluorescence is Graded in 5 Different Grades:

  • None
  • Faint
  • Medium
  • Strong
  • Very Strong

None actually means it has NO Fluorescence (Zero), as shown below.

So really the Grades are:

Faint, Medium, Strong and Very Strong! (As Seen with an Ultraviolet Light, UV or Black Light).

And just by Looking at these Stones with an Unaided Eye, you may not be able to tell the Difference between them and Normal Stones without Fluorescence. But…

Some of them you WILL!

Because many times Diamond Fluorescence will Affect the Diamond’s Appearance in Natural Lighting as well. Many times it can make a Diamond appear Foggy, Hazy or Cloudy in Regular Light (Regardless of the Diamond’s Color, Cut, Clarity or Carat Weight).

You won’t really know if Fluorescence affects a Diamond until you actually see it in Natural Light with your very own eyes.

Like this Diamond Shown Here, that has Strong Blue Fluorescence

Diamond Fluorescence Is 33 Percent of the Market

I don’t mind Diamonds with Fluorescence as long as the Stone looks Good… (Like the Hope Diamond actually has a Fiery Red Fluorescence, which is Mind Blowing!)

Diamonds with Fluorescence are Generally a Tad Cheaper as well. Which is Great, but not if it makes the Stone look Oily or Blurry or Milky.

I usually Advise Customers to Skip Fluorescent Stones, just in case.

But, like I said, it’s not always easy to do since it makes up 33% of all the Diamonds found in Stores today.

To know if a Diamond has Fluorescence, just Check the Diamond Report (as seen here)…

Or, you can also Narrow down your Search Results (If you’re Shopping Online at Dealers like James Allen) and Select NONE for Fluorescence (Under Advanced Settings)…

Select None Diamond Fluorescence

That way, you won’t have to Worry about the 33%, and you won’t have to Wonder if the Stone you’re Buying will Surprise you in the Dark!

Does your Diamond Glow?

If it has Fluorescence it WILL Glow in the Dark!

Check it out!

Buy a Black Light and Turn out the Lights.

It may be a Cool… As long as it doesn’t look all Misted up.

And that’s Something Worth a Closer Look!

Cheers! :)
