False – There is NO A, B, or C in the Diamond Color Grading Chart! The Chart actually starts with D. Plus, Blue-White is an Old Diamond Term that should NOT be used today. It was Misleading and Misrepresentative of the “Blue” in a Diamond, often caused by the presence of Fluorescence.

A Yellow Diamond looks even MORE Yellow in a Yellow Gold Mounting?

True – A Yellow Diamond will appear more Yellow in a Yellow Gold Mounting (since it picks up the hue), BUT, since everything is Yellow, the Diamond tends to blend in and not be so obvious! :)

Round Diamonds are always the FIRST Cutting Style from the Parent Rock?

True – The Round Brilliant Cut Diamond is the Most Popular Cutting Style, and so, those Shapes are Cut First!

True – Diamond Carat Weights can Vary by at least 7 Points one way or the other and still be considered on the mark. A 93 Point Diamond, is considered a “Light Carat“, and will look the same size as a Full Carat, but it will be Much Cheaper! :)

False – The BEST Color is whatever Color YOU LIKE! Hearts are Arrows are the BEST Cut… But Color is Subjective. I prefer Pure White Diamonds, but many like Near Colorless. It doesn’t change the Hearts and Arrows, just changes the Body Tone of the Stone.

False – A Plot is a Diagram, a Drawing of the Inclusions in the Stone. Like a Map of the Flaws! :)

True – That’s what Fluorescence is… It will GLOW under a UV Light (like a Black Light)

A Stone Cut Too Deep, will make the Color Darker?

True – The Deeper the Stone, the Darker the Color will be (Not a Good Thing when it comes to Diamonds). Which is why most other Gemstones, like Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald, ARE Cut Deeper than Diamonds, to Bring Out, or Accentuate the Color! Because that’s what people look for in Colored Gemstones: Color! :)

False – A Fish-Eye is when the Diamond is Cut TOO Shallow, and the Girdle is Reflected around the Table, giving it a Fish-Eye Appearance.

True – Near Colorless is G-H-I-J Colors, and they make up most of the Market. It all has to do with Availability… There’s an Abundance of them. Pure-White Diamonds (D-E-F), are more Rare and more Expensive to Locate. :)

False – You can’t see them FROM THE TOP VIEW! If you turn an SI2 Diamond Sideways, YOU WILL SEE FLAWS! That’s why SI2 is a borderline stone… It sits directly in the middle between Diamonds that Do have Visible Flaws, and ones that Don’t!

If you buy a Diamond with 23 Diamonds, all 23 should be Certified?

False – That would cost you a FORTUNE! It costs anywhere from $50-$300 to Certify Each and Every Stone… Which is why, generally, only the Center Bigger Diamond is Certified!

If the Diamond is Certified, it doesn’t matter WHO, or WHERE, you buy it from?

False – Certificates can be Altered, Fake, Falsified… I would only buy from Reputable Stores and Dealers like James Allen and Blue Nile. And, I would also ONLY BUY GIA!

The Best Clarity to have is always FLAWLESS?

False – Flawless Diamonds have ZERO Inclusions in the Stone. NONE! Which means, it will be virtually impossible to identify that Diamond as YOURS under a Microscope. I always recommend Diamonds of VS or SI Clarity… Ones that you can see something under 10x magnification. Because that way you can Identify your Diamond and keep yourself from getting ripped off or Diamond Switched!

BONUS Answer 51)

Replacement Values should always be listed on a Diamond Report?

False – NO Replacement values should EVER be on a Diamond Report (GIA Certified Diamonds don’t have a Value listed). A Report is for Factual Information about the Grading and nothing else. Values should be saved for an “Appraisal” which goes to your Insurance Company! :)

BONUS Answer 52)

The Best “Diamond Guarantee“, is to actually get your Diamond Insured?

True – That’s the ONLY Guarantee! Because so-called “Guarantees” (found in mall stores) come with many Requirements and Rules. Which are too easy to “VOID!” Plus, “Guarantees” Don’t cover is the ring is LOST, STOLEN, or DAMAGED! So get it Fully Insured to Cover Everything on the Ring and Diamond. Just in case! :)
