Diamonds In The Bible

Here’s something fun to learn:

The first known listing of the word ‘diamond‘, was recorded in the bible.

So grab your bible and turn to…

EXODUS

Chapter XXVIII

“And the second row shall be an Emerald, a Sapphire, and a Diamond.”

(Referring to the high priest’s breastplate).

It’s repeated later in:

EXODUS: Chapter XXXIX

As well as:

Jeremiah

Chapter XVII

“The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron and with the point of a diamond. It is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars.”

So early on, it’s apparent that diamond has, and always will be used for two main purposes:

Hardness and Adornment

And that’s no different today.

We praise diamonds and use them for the ultimate symbol or commitment. And we also use them for tools, sawing, cutting, drilling, polishing…

Diamond does it all.

And speaking of the bible, how about engraving a bible verse in your ring?

Now that’s the ultimate commitment.

Cheers! :)

  1. My favorite for such an occasion would require a wide band and definitely laser engraving! But I think it comes from Ruth 1:16, where she says “Entreat me not to leave thee, and to return from following after thee; for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge; thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God;
I’m pretty sure, without Googling it, that’s the way it goes. Of course, between two like-minded people, it would only be necessary to engrave Chapter name and Verse numbers. Beautiful and wholly appropriate in any case.
