Run and Shout…
I know you will… Because these Crosses are UPSIDE-DOWN!
Inverted, which if you’ve ever seen a horror movie, especially a possession movie, in the last 20 years, then you all know that inverted crosses mean SATAN! (That’s not Santa – unless you’re talking about that Krampus flick…)
But the truth is, the Inverted Cross actually has different meaning than that…
Taken right from Wikipedia it reads:
The origin of the symbol comes from the Catholic tradition that Simon Peter was crucified upside down, as told by Origen of Alexandria. The tradition first appears in the “Martyrdom of Peter”, a fragmented text found in, but possibly predating, the apocryphal Acts of Peter, which was written no later than 200 A.D. It is believed that Peter requested this form of crucifixion as he felt he was unworthy to be crucified in the same manner that Jesus died. As such, some Catholics use this cross as a symbol of humility and unworthiness in comparison to Jesus.
So being “unworthy” is enough to send you to hell?
I think that’s more folklore than anything…
Anti-Religion? Anti-Christ? Anti-Christian?
Or is it just a Superstition, a representation of our own beliefs and culture?
After all, it’s trendy right now to wear Crosses sideways… Is upside-down really all that different?
I guess you’ll have to be the judge on that one…
