Take Your Girlfriend Engagement Ring Shopping Secretly

Don’t Ruin the Surprise…

Now, I’ve said before Don’t take your Girlfriend Engagement Ring Shopping, Mainly because it Ruins the Surprise and it usually Ends up Costing you Way More than you want…

But, there are Plenty of Great Reasons why you Should.

If you do it Properly! :)

I’m Not Saying take her to a Jewelry Store Specifically to Look at Diamonds and Engagement Rings, I Don’t Advise that. But I am Saying, be Sly about it. Take her just to get a Feel of what she Likes and Dislikes.

You have to be Smooth!

Not only do you have to be a Smooth Operator to do this, you also must Pay Close Attention… while Acting like you Aren’t. :)

The Sole Purpose for this Casual Trip is to see what Lights up her Eyes.

This is what I Suggest doing…

Go to the Mall

Take her to your Local Shopping Mall for an Errand or Two: A New Outfit for a Dinner Party, a Bottle of Cologne, New Shoes… and while you’re there, Wandering the Mall Stores, casually look at your Watch and say “That Reminds Me, I need to get a New Battery for my Watch, it’s Running Slow“…

…And Steer her into the Next Jewelry Store you come upon to get the Battery Changed.

Tell her to Look around while you Proceed to the Counter to Speak with an Associate about Checking the Battery in your Watch.

Whether your Watch really Needs a Battery or not, that’s not the Point, it’s to Draw Attention away from “the Rings“…

Clean your Jewelry

Also, while you’re at the Counter, ask if you can have your Jewelry Cleaned… Of course, they’ll say YES. Take off your Items and go over and Collect your Girlfriend’s Jewelry as well (all of it). Cleanings and Inspections are a Priority anyway and I Highly Recommend them. The Store will Clean them while you Wait and this Very Smooth Move does one thing Really Good

It Frees up her Hands and Fingers and makes trying on Rings a Breeze (Trust me, I’ve seen women try to Cram Engagement Rings onto Fingers with Plastic Eye-Ball Rings before, it Ain’t Pretty!).

If she hasn’t already Stopped at the Engagement Ring case, wander the Store with her while your Jewelry is being Cleaned. Casually Stop in Front of that Case. Play it up if you Want

“Look at the Size of that Diamond!”

Point to the Biggest Rock in the Case and Laugh. This is a Good Way to get her Interested in trying on Rings. Ask to see the Honking Ring and put it on her Finger Joking. “Now that’s Huge!

This puts her at Calm and shouldn’t Raise her Guard any. She now should Naturally try it on and of course, and try on other Rings as well (Just For Fun). Pay Attention to what she Points out and looks at. Ask her if she likes that Style… Just don’t make it Sound like you’re Asking 20 Questions. You don’t want to Tip your Hat and let her know that this is the Real Reason for the Visit.

Take Mental Notes!

The things you want to notice are:

1) Metal Color

This is a simple one. Is she Drawn to White Gold, Platinum or Yellow Gold?

2) Diamond Shape

What Shape of Stone is Catching her Eye? Round? Marquise? (Football Shaped) Princess Cut? See what Shape she puts on her Hand the Most.

3) What Type of Ring?

See what Type of Ring does she Like? Is it a Single Solitaire? A Wedding Set? Trio Set? Things like this really matter in the Long Run.

4) What Style of Ring?

What Style of Ring does she Point out? Channel Set? Invisible Set? Tension Set? Pave Set? Halo? (See many Different Styles of Engagement Rings HERE!) Chances are Pretty Good it’s either Pave Set or Halo Set, the two Most Popular Styles of Rings Today.

5) Ring Width and Height

See if she likes Big Rings, Small Rings, Gaudy Rings, Wide Rings, Petite Rings, Rings that sit up High, Low, Flat… Every women is Different. Some like Little, Bitty Diamonds with Tiny Bands. Others like Rings so Wide you can’t even Bend your Finger. See what she Loves and Memorize it.

6) Ring Size

Pay Close Attention to the Rings she tries on. Do they Fit? Are they too Large? Too Small?

Rings come in an Average Default Size of 6 or 6 1/2. If they Fit her Perfectly, laugh it off saying “They ALL fit you! You could Wear Every Ring in the Case!” She’ll Love that! :)

These Tips and Pointers will Help you in the Future when you come back to do the Real Shopping (Without Her).

It’s a Secret!

Remember, don’t give it away that this is a Test-Drive and you’re thinking about Buying her a Ring. You’re just Casually Waiting for a Battery and Cleaning, That’s All!

This Trip gives you Valuable Information and Insight that will Help you Narrow down the Perfect Ring for her.

When you’re alone, later on, Write Down some of the Visuals and Info you’ve Collected so you can Recall them in the Future. Just don’t let her see this Note or you’ve Ruined the Surprise.

Don’t Talk Quality or Price!

AND… Don’t Talk about such things as Quality, Color, Cut, Carat Weight, Clarity or Price with the Salesperson. Don’t even Mention them. This is just a Fun Stop trying on a Couple of Rings for the Heck of it. Don’t bring it up again and don’t take her to any other Jewelry Stores. She’ll get Wise then…

Just one Short, Sweet Stop… and the Info you Need to come back alone!

The Rest is up to you!

You can Decide upon what Carat Weight you want to Buy her, what Quality you need, and of course, how much you’re going to Spend later.

I would get the Salesperson’s Name just to Shake their Hand and say “Thanks“, but make no Mention of Returning, Shopping, Don’t Even Wink or act Interested… And DON’T take their Business Card. That Means Business and you don’t want to go there.

Write their Name down later with your Notes if you want to go back there to Shop in the Future (if she really, really Fell in Love with a Ring there). That way, the Salesperson who put up with this Light-Hearted Scenario will get the Commission.

It’s the Right Thing to do

I would also Highly Advise Shopping around and Comparing Quality and Prices too. Buying from the First Place you Shop at isn’t the Best Way to Save Money! :)

Once you know what she likes, Shopping is much Easier!

P.S.

Don’t Forget to Grab your Watch, and Clean Jewelry. And of course, Don’t Forget to get that Bottle of Cologne

It’s what you came for anyway! :)
