Best Book To Buy On How To Buy A Diamond

“Buying a diamond?”

Join the club. Engagement ring shopping can be crazy, confusing, and costly.

But it doesn’t have to be.

All you need is a little knowledge beforehand…

A book that tells it all.

And the best book there is on the subject of diamond engagement ring buying, is this book:
How to buy a diamond“.

Why this book?

Because I truly believe that this book by Fred Cuellar, is by far the best book ever written on the subject of diamonds and diamond buying.

It will not only help you to learn about diamonds, but it will help you decide what diamonds to buy and why. The tagline of the book reads:

Insider secrets for getting your money’s worth.

And believe me, it’s right.

This book is an excellent learning tool for both the novice and the expert. It’s invaluable as a reference guide and an asset to anyone interested in the wonderful world of diamonds. In other words, it’s a must-read.

I wouldn’t talk about it if I didn’t believe it.

This book has great information about the 4C’s: cut, color, clarity, and carat weight. But then it goes much further into the topic than just the basics. Cuellar delves into important facts and buying tips that will save you money. With clever drawings and diagrams it explains diamonds in crisp visual detail.

It’s well written and anyone could pick up this book, read it, and understand all of the key elements (I love the crash course shortcuts). If you were to buy only one book on the subject, this is that book. Especially if you are out shopping for a diamond engagement ring. Read This book first.

I love the chapter on clarity. This chapter alone is worth the entire price of the book (I paid $16.95 for my book – but Amazon has it cheaper now). It not only tells you all there is to know about diamond clarity, but it shows you tons of examples of each clarity. Take I clarity for example. There are pages and pages of images showing you the differences between I1, I2 and I3 clarity. You can see them for yourself (multiple examples of each). It will help you fully understand what clarity is all about. I’ve never seen any other book go into such precise detail on the subject, and with as many beautiful examples either.

The amount of info in this book is priceless (318 pages worth).

You’ll learn:

  • Colored Diamonds
  • Girdle Thickness (along with examples of different girdles)
  • Crown and Pavilion Angles
  • Warping… WARPING? Yes, diamonds can warp
  • This book gives you examples of the diamond bow-tie, but get this… It shows you examples of the bow-tie in all the different cuts of diamond like the marquise cut, oval cut, emerald cut and pear cut (I’ve never seen this in another book before)

Other topics include:

  • Diamond Lore
  • Proportions
  • Super Cuts
  • Cost (a pricing chart is included that tells you how much you should spend)

And this is only in the first 2 chapters.

(See, I told you it was awesome.)

Chapter 3 goes into ring settings, Tiffany styles, bridal sets and wedding sets. It covers accent stones like baguettes, melees and trilliants. It talks about gold, platinum and even colored gemstones.

This book goes on to tell you “How to pick a jeweler.” It goes so far as to give you a “Jeweler questionnaire sheet” that will help you decide if a particular jeweler is right for you (is your jeweler bonded?) Want to know more about buying diamonds on the internet? It’s in here.

Didn’t I say this book was invaluable?

  • Fake Diamonds
  • Certification
  • Tricks of the Trade (excellent)
  • 50% Off Sales
  • Bait and Switch
  • Grade Bumping

This book has it all.

Plus, it’s full of great myths like “An ideal cut diamond is ideal” and “Diamonds are very rareExcellent, excellent, excellent.

Very well done. With interesting side notes, facts, trivia, quizzes and great stories… It will force you to read it from cover to cover.

Plus, there’s updated versions as well, that take you further and farther into the diamond world…

Sound too good to be true?

Well it’s not.

You’ll learn:

  • What a “high definition diamond” is
  • Proposal Styles
  • Anniversary Gifts
  • Do’s and Don’ts
  • Estate Jewelry
  • Insurance
  • Appraisals
  • How to clean a diamond
  • And my favorite: How to sell a diamond! – Eye opener!

If this doesn’t help you understand diamonds better and teach you How to buy a diamond, then I don’t know what will.

Fred Cuellar, the author of this book, is a gemologist, a jeweler and an educator.

He’s one of the world’s leading experts on diamonds.

And after reading this book, I’m sure you will agree.

It’s money well spent.

Buy it today.

Buy a ring tomorrow.

Cheers! :)
