THE CUT OF THE DIAMOND !

THE 4C'S GRADING SYSTEM AND THE CUT OF THE DIAMOND!

Diamond Chart!
The best advice I can give anyone concerning Cut and Diamond Buying is this...

Buy Certified Diamonds Only!

If you're shopping around for a Diamond Engagement Ring, buy only G.I.A. Certified Diamonds. And if you can buy one with a laser inscription on it, all the better.

To understand Cut more, view a bunch of different Diamonds under a microscope. (A must!) See what the difference is under a scope between a well Cut Diamond and a poorly Cut Diamond. A well proportioned Diamond will have tons more Brilliance and Sparkle in it and it'll look 100 times better and bigger than a poorly cut one.

Cut is a lot more technical than what I've touched on here. You could spend an entire lifetime studying Cuts and Facets and Angles and Percentages, but it's really not that necessary to get too absorbed or picky about it. As long as you follow these simple guidelines, you'll end up with a great Cut and a great Diamond that she'll love to wear for the rest of her life.

Cut is Beauty

So in the 4C's of Diamond grading, Cut is not only important, but Critical to the beauty of a Diamond. You could have a Flawless Diamond, that's D in Color (Both tops in Clarity and Color), but with a bad Cut, and that Diamond could sadly look dark and crappy. It's not really a wise choice! (Even though it may be half the price!) It may sound like a good deal, but it's not. This is where Jewelers will get you! Be warned!

Always look into a good Cut. It will make your Diamond look like a million bucks.

Cut comes first

Cut comes first, then Color, then Clarity, then Carat Weight. That's how they stack up to what's important in Diamond Quality. When Jewelers talk about the 4 C's, Cut is always leading the pack.

So it may be a Brilliant Cut Diamond, but ask yourself "What are the Table and Depth Percentages?" (Is it 60/60?) "What about the Girdle? (Is it Medium?) The Culet? (Is it Small?) They should be. These are issues that can't be denied.

Cut first, then the rest of the Diamond will fall into place. And if you get a Certified Diamond, that's Cut well, with a great Color, and an Awesome Clarity... Well... That's what I'm talking about!
