THOSE AREN'T DIAMONDS, THEY'RE BLOBS!

ARE THERE GOLD BLOBS IN YOUR JEWELRY INSTEAD OF DIAMONDS?

Diamond Gold Blobs!
Are you sure your Diamond Jewelry has real Diamonds in it?

Better get out the Loupe and check! You'd be surprised at how many have fake Diamonds in them!

A lot of people think their Jewelry is filled with beautiful Diamonds, but come to find out, those aren't Diamonds, they are Globs of Gold!

Yep! That's right! Globs or Blobs of beaded White Gold, that's highly polished to reflect light. (See Picture!)

Gold Blobs

Upon closer inspection, you'll see that what you thought were Diamonds, may not be. It all depends on the type of merchandise you bought.

You see, lower quality, or lower priced Jewelry is known for skimping on the goods. Cheap Jewelry will often have thin shanks, thin prongs, low-grade Gems, (Some even chipped!) and hollowed out Mountings. Low Quality Jewelry, like Rings, Pendants and Bracelets will usually be made of 10kt Gold instead of 14kt Gold also.

And one of the best and most efficient ways for Manufacturers to cut corners, is to slack on Diamonds! Jewelry Makers do neat little tricks, like setting in White Gold Plates that look like heads, and dabbing a Glob of Gold in the center of it to resemble a Diamond.

At a quick glance, it does look like something is there. And usually they're so small, it's tough to tell the difference anyway. One good way to hide this disappearing act, is to throw a couple of real Diamonds in the mix. Alternate the Diamonds and Globs gives the illusion of Diamonds everywhere!

Does it Fool?

They do this in Rings, Earrings, Pendants and even Tennis Bracelets of Low Quality. Does it fool people? Yes, it does! It makes the Jewelry Sparkle, Shine and of course Sell! But the real purpose, is just to cut down the cost!

Fraud?

Is this considered fraud? Nope! Not in the least. They're not hiding the fact that it's a blob of Gold! After all, you wanted a piece of cheap Jewelry, you got it! Jewelers don't care if you don't inspect the product better before you buy it!

Who's the fool?

One good thing though, you will never see these Ghastly Gold Globs in more expensive Jewelry. These tactics are used only for the low grade stuff.

And even though most of these Jewelry items do have Genuine Diamonds, they are normally quite small and very Low Quality. Plus most are Single Cut Diamonds. (Diamonds with just a couple of facets on them!) And when I talk about small Diamonds, I mean it. Generally they are only a couple of Points a piece. But by adding in these couple Points of Diamonds, it gives the Jewelers the opportunity to list the Jewelry as "Diamond", and also mark up the price!

So if you're in the market for Diamond Accessories, make sure you loupe the Jewelry before you buy it! Otherwise, you may get stuck paying for Globs of Gold!
