ARE EXTRA FACETS ON A DIAMOND BETTER?

THE TRUTH BEHIND THOSE EXTRA FACETED ROUND DIAMONDS!

Are Diamonds with Extra Facets Better?
So now you understand the proportions and cut of a Brilliant Cut Diamond. You know you get more life out of your Diamond if it's cut well. The stone will dance with beauty and light.

Super Cuts

But what about the beauty and life of those Super Cut Diamonds? The Diamonds with extra Facets on them claim to have MORE Fire and Sparkle than the Brilliant Cut Diamond. But do they? Here's the truth!...

Yes! They do have More, But... there's a big BUT... Are they BETTER?

The answer is: NO!

Let me explain... While these Extra Faceted Diamonds may have 66, 74, 88 Facets or more, the Quantity alone may not equal the Quality! You have to delve deeper...

Keep in mind that those claims are only talking about how many facets these Super Cut Diamonds have. Not that the Clarity or Color is better, (in most cases it isn't) just that it has more cuts. That's all. It has Extra Cuts or Facets on them and that's their whole marketing strategy.

More Cuts equal More Sparkle, Right?

Nope!!!

You won't get any more light entering the Diamond and rebounding out no matter how many Facets you have.

A normal Crown (top raised part of the Diamond) has 33 Facets. So if you have 16 Extra Facets on the crown, you'll get the brilliance and Sparkle actually splitting up into 49 parts.

But... those parts will be now be Smaller. So instead of seeing 33 Big flashes of light. You'll see 49 Smaller flashes of light. Same light, no more, no less, just split up differently. Understand? Good!

Ask yourself this

Are you really gaining anything?

Nope!

Will it make the Diamond a better Color or Clarity? Nope!

Does a crazy name and a Certificate make it better? Nope!

Is it worth spending more money for it? Nope!

These Exclusive Cuts of Diamonds don't hold up well on the resale market. They are harder to trade in because no Jeweler wants to get stuck with them. Looks like they don't make the Cut!

My advice:

Don't get caught up in the so-called-sparkle!

Stick with Brilliant Cut Diamonds and if you must spend more money, spend it on Color or Clarity! Better Quality will always make it Sparkle more and in my book, that's Brilliant!
