Yes, you really can save tons of money by NOT Buying a 1.00 (One Carat) Diamond. (Everyone knows this!)
But why would I tell people this? Am I crazy? Am I saying
Don't Buy her a Diamond? No, I'm not! Not yet at least... Listen up!
The best way to save money when shopping for Diamond Rings is to follow one Secret Golden Rule:
Less is More
It's true! Let's say you're out shopping for a One Carat Solitaire... Stop! Don't Buy it! (I know, I know, One Carat is the Carat Size that all Women dream of... And you can't blame them for that because it's One Hundred Points of glorious Diamond...) But in order to save some money, you must think Smaller! (A couple of Points Smaller to be exact!)
You see, if you look at Buying a Diamond a tad under the 1.00 Carat Mark (Like .93 - .99 - see Picture below), you'll not only get a Diamond that will look exactly the same size as a 1.00 Carat Diamond (She'll never know), but it will cost you Hundreds of Dollars less!
Plus, if it's within a couple of Points (Usually
Seven Points one way or the other), then that Diamond can still officially be called a
One Carat Diamond.
Win-Win!
Most people don't know about this little Secret. Most people go into the Jewelry Store looking for a "One Carat Diamond" and the Salesperson is more than happy to bring out Diamonds to show you that are at least One Carat or more! (Usually More! - They're not stupid!)
So it's up to you to ask for Diamonds a little under that One Carat borderline.
(You can almost hear the price dropping now...)
Light Carat Weights
Most Jewelers call these stones "Light Carat Weights". They almost make the premium cut but can't quite get there. (Once they cross that 1.00 Carat line then the price goes up!) And that's great for you! Buying Smaller keeps more money in your pocket. Who's going to complain about that? It gives you more bucks to spend on the Band, Ring and Mounting. More Money is always a winner!
This little Secret Rule of Thumb (Less is More), works for all the main Carat Weights as well. Want to buy her a Half Carat (.50 Pts)? Then buy her a .45 instead! It's cheaper! Want to buy her a 3/4 Carat (.75 Pts), then buy her a .71 Point Diamond instead. They really do look the same! It's impossible for anyone to tell the difference between a couple of Points. I sure can't!
Picture this...
Throw a Hundred Pennies on the ground... Now throw 96 Pennies on the ground. Can you tell the difference between the two piles? NOPE! Not with the naked eye.... They'll look the same, I swear!
So if you want to save Hundreds of Dollars on a One Carat Diamond, think .96 or .98 instead. You'll be loving the Diamond, loving the savings, and laughing all the way to the bank... Well, sort of! :)
