GEMSTONES THAT LOOK AWESOME IN WHITE GOLD!

WHAT GEMSTONES LOOK BEST IN A WHITE GOLD MOUNTING?

Gems set in White Gold!
Some Gemstones look awesome in 14kt White Gold, others do not! It all depends on the saturation and hue of the Gemstone. Point blank, the best stones that look great in a White Gold or Platinum Mounting, are Gems that are darker, or have intense colors to them.

Stones like Blue Sapphire look absolutely awesome in a White or Light colored Mounting. White Mountings can be anything from White Gold, (10kt, 14kt, 18kt, 22kt, or 24kt), Platinum, (Stamped 950 or Plat.), Palladium, Titanium, Tungsten, Sterling Silver or Stainless Steel.

All these Metals are varieties of White Metals. Some are brighter than others, some are more metallic or darker in tone, like a gun-metal gray, but for the most part, White Metals are popular, hip and very fashionable.

If you go into any Jewelry Store, you'd be amazed that 70% of the Jewelry on display today is White Gold. And just about all Colored Gemstone Rings, Pendants and Earrings are set into White Gold.

Here's a list of Gemstones (And Birthstones) that look awesome in White Gold and other White Metals:

Garnet, Amethyst, Diamond (As always), Emerald, Alexandrite, Ruby, Peridot, Sapphire, Pink Tourmaline, Citrine, Blue Topaz, Tanzanites (Dark ones), Black Diamond, and Onyx. Plus some exotic Gemstones like Kunzite, Iolite, Rhodolite and Lazurite.

But keep in mind, that the darker the better. More Intense Colors work awesome. The reason being, ALL Gemstones come in a range of colors and hues. Anything from very light, faint, almost transparent hues, to dark, almost black tones. Stones that are very light (See picture) or stones with very little color, don't look so hot in White Gold. They look too pale. They blend in with the White Metal and just about disappear!

The stones that look the best in White Gold, are the ones that have a sharp contrast and distinct difference in color with the metal. Dark Blue Stones are sure to "POP" against White Metals. Red Rubies leave a striking contrast and stand out bold. Vivid Pinks, Bright Amethysts, Great Green Stones like Emeralds and Tourmalines and Garnets work well also.

I would stay away from light colored stones, like Aquamarines! Aquas are very light blue (See picture), almost transparent like water. They tend to get lost in the Mounting and Jewelry and no one even notices them! It's quite sad!

Cheap Tanzanites that are very pale Purple, get lost as well. Opals don't seem to hold up well because of their Whiteness either. Some Topaz stones, like very light Blue Topaz, are hidden and just don't have any impact or snap to them.

My favorite choice for Gemstones that always look wonderful in White Gold, no matter what, are: Sapphires, Rubies and Emeralds! (See picture) Hands down, these precious Gemstones are stunning in White Gold and other White Metals. They are sure to make a strong statement, and of course, don't forget, Diamonds always look Great in White Gold! But then again, Diamonds look great in every Mounting, in every Metal, of any kind. Diamonds have all the luck!
