Before you purchase your next Charm, Pendant, Ring or Bracelet, stop and take a good look at the Mounting.
What you see could harm you!
Literally!
The truth is, a lot of Mountings look pretty, but are not great designs. They have Sharp Edges, Rough Beads or Prongs, Pointy Sides, things that Dangle, Pointed V-Tip Prongs, High Heads, Curly Hooks (like your Monkey Charm) and Free-Form Settings that make it a nightmare to wear. These types of Jewelry get caught and snagged on everything!
One of the worst Tennis Bracelets to buy is the popular S-Link Style Diamond Bracelet (See picture at bottom), they catch, tear and rip things to pieces. Open Heart Pendants like the one shown below are beautiful, but they will catch your clothing and hair in their hooks. Beware!
Anything that has a Hook to it (
Like a Monkey's Tail), Hangs Down, Curls Up, Curls In, or is Open just enough to allow clothing and fibers to sneak through...
Take caution!
It's a snag just waiting to happen! Hooks and Pointy Jewelry get caught, catches and rips your sweaters, hair and skin to shreds.
Watch out for Initial Pendants with Cute Curly Cues. Watch out for Thin, Razor-Sharp Charms. Keep your eyes open for Palm Trees (See below), Swords, Animals and Stars. Anything with Pointy Points! Anything that doesn't feel smooth to the touch, pass it up. If it feels Jagged or Ridged, Scaly, Bumpy, Uneven or Sharp... They could be an accident waiting to happen.
If you always get your Jewelry caught and snagged, you'll probably do harm and damage to the Jewelry as well. Your Stones may come loose. The prongs may bust off. The item could break in half if it gets hooked hard enough. Those little reaching Prongs and Arms will snap right off... Your Octopus may lose a tenacle or two!
The point is... Don't buy items that look like they could cause problems later. Hooks sticking out, Sharp Points, Jagged Edges, Gemstones and Heads that sit up too high. Inspect all Jewelry for potential problems before making the committment to purchase it. Run your fingers and clothing over the piece. Does it feel smooth? Follow its contours and edges. Make sure there's nothing that will get caught that could eventually turn into a disaster.
Because if it sticks out, you're bound to catch things. And if it starts to catch on things, you aren't going to wear it! And then, it's just a waste of money.
Below are some more Jewelry items that have Points, Hooks, Prongs, and Gemstones that stick out and could get caught!
Smooth, Polished, Rounded and Closed Edged Jewelry is the best. Otherwise, you might catch a Monkey by it's Tail!
Get the point?
