QUESTION FROM CHARLOTTE IN JHQ, GERMANY:
Question :
Can you wear a 9 Carat White Gold Wedding Ring with a 18 Carat White Gold Engagement Ring together at the same time?
ANSWER FOR CHARLOTTE:
Hi Charlotte.
I see only two concerns wearing these two different Carat (or as we say Karat) Golds.
1) Being different mixtures of Alloys, the two colors of Gold may not look identical. It is much harder to tell if they are White Gold though, and if they are Rhodium Plated as well, then you will probably never see a difference between them, which is good.
2) The other issue is that 9ct Gold is stronger and more durable because of the Alloys in it than the 18ct Gold, which means it will wear down the other ring just by friction and rubbing against it. (Unless you get them soldered together as one piece, then it's not an issue!)
A lot of people here in the states wear both 14kt Gold, 10kt Gold and 18kt Gold together, not to mention Platinum, so as long as they look similar and you like it, then I don't see a problem at all.
