Below are 6 diamonds, all 1 carats, all picked by me.
Your goal is simple:
Choose the most expensive stone.
And to help you, I’ll give you the color and clarity of the diamonds (and remember, they are all exactly 1.00 carat in size).
Sounds easy enough?
But is it?
Can you pick the most expensive stone based upon the information and appearance?
Take a peek:
So which diamond is it?
Which diamond looks more expensive?
The cleanest diamond? The whitest diamond? The diamond with the better looking cut?
Well, here’s the truth…
There is no expensive diamond; they are all exactly the same price:
$3,000
Every diamond shown above is $3,000 right on the dot (at the time of this post).
What this goes to show you, is that every diamond appears different. So if your budget is $3,000, or $4,000, or whatever it is, there are tons of different stones you could choose from. Some diamonds will appear 1000% better than others. Meaning, if you don’t compare stones, if you don’t shop and see what’s out there, and see a lot of diamonds, then you may not be getting the best stone for your budget. You could end up with a darker stone, that lacks brilliance and fire.
Variety matters!
And sadly, most jewelry stores do not have a ton of variety. Which is why shopping online at one of the biggest diamond dealers can really help you stretch your hard earned money. Online dealers like James Allen and Blue Nile will not only get you a better looking diamond, but at a much cheaper price than any mall store.
Simply enter your price range or budget, then choose the diamond that looks the best. Once you select a stone, find your ideal mounting (I usually recommend pave mountings or halo mountings; since side diamonds add tons of sparkle and beauty to any engagement ring).
Head on over to James Allen or Blue Nile today, and build the diamond ring of your dreams.
Cheers! :)
Shouldn’t the top right diamond in the image be I1 maybe? As opposed to IF?
Hi Brian. Good eye! That was definitely a typo. It is an I1, and I have updated the image to reflect that. Thanks much! :) -Richard
