Is the Stone Cut Narrow or Spread? Is the Stone Lumpy or Deep?<\/p>\n<p><h2>CUT IS VITAL!<\/h2>\n<p>\n<strong>Cut Alone Determines how much a Diamond will Sparkle and Shine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe Better the Cut, the Better the Brilliance, Scintillation and Fire!<\/p>\n<p><h2>CUT = LIFE<\/h2>\n<p>\nYou want to hear something more along the lines of this: &#8220;<strong>This Diamond has an Excellent Cut, so the Light Play in the Diamond gives you the Maximum Amount of Brilliance, Sparkle and Fire!<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>\nCut is listed right on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jewelry-secrets.com\/Blog\/how-to-read-a-gia-diamond-report\/\">GIA Diamond Report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jewelry-secrets.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/GIAs-5-Cut-Grades.jpg\" alt=\"GIA has 5 Different Cut Grades!\" title=\"GIA has 5 Different Cut Grades!\" width=\"502\" height=\"325\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10730\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jewelry-secrets.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/GIAs-5-Cut-Grades.jpg 502w, https:\/\/www.jewelry-secrets.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/GIAs-5-Cut-Grades-300x194.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 502px) 100vw, 502px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><h2>There are 5 Cut Grades:<\/h2>\n<p>\nGIA has <strong>Five Different Cut Grades<\/strong> when it comes to Diamonds:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Excellent<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Very Good<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Good<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Fair<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Poor<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nI would only Advise Buying a Diamond with a Cut Grade of <strong>Excellent<\/strong> or at the least, <strong>Very Good<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\nThat is, <strong>if you want your Diamond to Sparkle!<\/strong> :)<\/p>\n<p>\nCheaper Diamonds will often have a Poor Cut, or a Cut that Loses Light and Brilliance. It could make a Diamond Appear Dark, Dull and Dead!<\/p>\n<p><h2>Not Very Pretty!<\/h2>\n<p>\nSo always ask what the Cut of the Diamond is. Look at the Certificate. <strong>Look at the Polish and Symmetry as well<\/strong>. These Affect how a Diamond Interacts with Light. <\/p>\n<p>\nOpt for &#8220;<strong>Excellent<\/strong>&#8221; or &#8220;<strong>Very Good<\/strong>&#8221; in these Ratings as well.<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>Lastly&#8230;<\/strong> Look at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jewelry-secrets.com\/Blog\/diamond-girdle\/\">Girdle Grade<\/a>. You don&#8217;t want a Diamond that have a Very Thick or Extremely Thick Girdle to it. It will make your Diamond look Thick, Deep, and the Girdle will stand out and be <strong>Obvious<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\nLikewise, you also don&#8217;t want an Extremely Thin Girdle either. <strong>Very Thin Girdles BREAK!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>The BEST Girdle Grades to get are: <\/strong><strong>Thin, Medium or Slightly Thick<\/strong>. Look Good and Hard at the Stone from all Angles and Sides, even from the Bottom View.<\/p>\n<p>\nMany times Diamonds <strong>WILL<\/strong> have Eye-Visible Flaws, Lines, Clouds, Cracks, Chips, Dots, Feathers, that can be seen with your very own Eyes.<\/p>\n<p><h2>That is, if you look for them<\/h2>\n<p>\nUsually the Diamond Clarities that Exhibit Visible Flaws are: <strong>SI2, I1, I2 and I3<\/strong> (as well as any EGL Certified <strong>SI3<\/strong> Diamonds).<\/p>\n<p>\nIf you&#8217;re Buying SI1 or higher, you shouldn&#8217;t ever have to Worry about Seeing Flaws. Some Diamonds can have Fluorescence and look Perfectly Normal and Sparkle like Crazy.<\/p>\n<p>\nBut others can look <strong>Cloudy, Foggy, Hazy or Milky<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><h2>A Light Killer!<\/h2>\n<p>\nSo I generally, as a Rule, <strong>Advise customers to Buy Diamonds without Fluorescence<\/strong>. Just to be Safe.<\/p>\n<p>\nUnless you can actually View that Diamond in Different Lighting Atmospheres to see for yourself.<\/p>\n<p>\nIf you&#8217;re Unsure, stick with <strong>No Fluorescence<\/strong>.
