“Culet?”<\/h2>\n

\nThe Culet (Diamond Culet<\/strong>) is something that most people don’t think about.<\/p>\n

\nThe Culet is actually a Facet<\/strong> at the Very Bottom of the Pavilion (Base of the Diamond<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\nThe Interesting Thing about the Culet is this: There is only ONE Main Purpose for the Culet!<\/strong><\/p>\n

So What is the Purpose?<\/h2>\n

\nTo Keep the Tip from Chipping!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nWhen a Diamond comes to a Very Sharp Point<\/strong>, that Point is Vulnerable and Susceptible to Chipping or Breaking.<\/p>\n

\nMany Diamond Cutters Cut that Tip off<\/strong> so it’s not so Pointed and Delicate anymore.<\/p>\n

\nHere’s an Image that Shows a Diamond with a Culet, and without a Culet…<\/p>\n

\"What<\/p>\n

\nDiamond Cutters do the same thing with the Girdle of the Diamond<\/a> as well. The Girdle is the Center Line that Circles around the Outer Edge of your Stone.<\/p>\n

\nThe Pointed Girdle is Cut Off so it doesn’t come to a Sharp Edge and get Chipped or Broken.<\/p>\n

\nSo that’s the Only Real Reason and Purpose for Cutting off those Sharp Points.<\/p>\n

Some Diamonds have Culets, others do Not!<\/h2>\n

\nNot all Diamonds have Culets<\/strong>. In Fact, many do not! <\/strong><\/p>\n

\nIf you look at the Majority of Well Cut Certified Diamonds<\/a>, you’ll see that on the Diamond Report<\/strong>, under the Section of Profile<\/strong>, the Grade of the Culet will be listed. Like so…<\/p>\n
