KP?<\/h2>\n

\nOften when you’re looking at Stamps or Markings Inside of Rings<\/a> and other Jewelry, you’ll see the Letters “KP<\/strong>“, as in 14KP<\/strong>, or 18KP<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

What does this KP Mean?<\/h2>\n

\nKP Means “Karat Plumb”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nNow we all know that “Karat<\/strong>” means the Purity of the Gold<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nWe also know that 10k, 14k, 18k<\/strong> are NOT Pure Gold<\/strong> (Pure Gold is 24k<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\nSo these Common Gold Mixtures found on the Market Today are Blended with other Alloys<\/strong> to make the Gold Stronger <\/strong>(Since Pure Gold is Too Soft for Jewelry<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\n14k Gold (also written as .585<\/strong>) is made up of 58.5% Gold, 25% Silver, and 17% Copper<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nSo the K, or Karat<\/strong>, means that’s the Amount of Gold that’s Supposed <\/strong>to be in the Piece of Jewelry.<\/p>\n

So What about the Plumb?<\/h2>\n

\nPlumb means “TRUE”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nIt comes from the French Word “Plum<\/strong>” or “Plombe<\/strong>“, and can also mean “Completely<\/strong>“, “Weight<\/strong>“, or even “Exact<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

\nSo now the Real Meaning of Plumb<\/strong> becomes clear…<\/p>\n

\nIt means that the Gold Stated is Correct<\/strong>. It’s at least the amount Stamped on the Item, or Greater<\/strong> (Never Less).<\/p>\n

It’s TRUE Gold<\/h2>\n

\n(Not Rounded Up<\/strong>, or Close to<\/strong>… IT IS AT LEAST THAT OR MORE!<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

\nFor you see, many other Countries in the World<\/strong> Produce Different Blends of Gold and use Different Alloys and Mixtures. They may even Sell Gold that’s 7K, 8K, or even 9K Gold<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nAnd even if they do Stamp an Item as 10K<\/strong>, that doesn’t always mean that the Gold is 41.7% (Or whatever Gold you’re Buying). Oh No!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nIt may be somewhere in the Ballpark<\/strong>, but not Exact.<\/p>\n

\nIn the U.S.A., if it’s under 10K Gold<\/strong>, then it Legally can’t be Sold as Gold<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Gold Guarantee<\/h2>\n

\nSo to Ensure and Guarantee<\/strong> that the Item you’re Buying is GOLD<\/strong> (the Stamp that’s Shown), make sure you’re Buying Plumb Gold<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Look to see if it’s Stamped “KP”<\/h2>\n

\n14KP is at least 14 Parts Gold<\/strong> or More.<\/p>\n

\n18KP is at least 18 Parts Gold<\/strong> or More.<\/p>\n

It’s Important to Know for Sure!<\/h2>\n

\nAnd if you truly want to be Positive<\/strong> that an Item is “True<\/strong>” to the Mark, then Buy yourself an Acid Testing Kit<\/a>, and within a Few Seconds<\/strong> you’ll be able to See if the Gold you Bought<\/strong>, is Indeed the Gold you Paid for<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
