Blue white?<\/h2>\n

\nBlue-white is a historical term<\/strong> used to describe a certain diamond color.<\/p>\n

\nAnd even though it’s an older description<\/strong>, you may still find jewelers (unscrupulously<\/strong>) using the term today.<\/p>\n

BEWARE!<\/h2>\n

\nBlue-white was used as a selling tool for “white<\/strong>” diamonds that had strong flashes of blue color<\/strong> in them (see image).<\/p>\n

\nIt was regarded as a top white diamond<\/strong>, or a pure-white diamond (D,E,F)<\/a>, the best of the best <\/strong>diamond colors.<\/p>\n

A “premier” diamond.<\/h2>\n

\nBut those “pure white<\/strong>” diamonds were often false claims<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Fraud<\/h2>\n

\nBecause most “blue-white<\/strong>” diamonds sold on the market back then were not pure white stones<\/strong>, they were actually diamonds that looked whiter because of fluorescence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It’s true.<\/h2>\n

\nFluorescence can make a diamond appear whiter<\/strong> because it can make them look foggy, cloudy and oily<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

It’s false color identity.<\/h2>\n

\nInstead, these diamonds not only looked hazy in natural light<\/strong>, but they also glowed in the dark<\/strong> (often blue <\/strong>under UV light<\/strong>, or black light<\/a>), so the name “blue-white<\/strong>” became very fitting for them.<\/p>\n

Many people were taken or ripped off.<\/h2>\n

\nToday, blue-white should not be used<\/strong> in any sales presentation. It should not be used to describe any diamonds ever<\/strong>, and it should be avoided.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s misleading.<\/h2>\n

\nAnd confusing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nConsumers think that they’re getting a really white valuable diamond<\/strong>, like these pure-white diamonds here<\/a>, when in fact, they got suckered<\/strong> into a low-grade stones that were foggy with a whitish veil<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nCompare a pure-white diamond<\/strong> up against a strong blue florescent diamond<\/strong> below…<\/p>\n

\n\"Blue<\/p>\n

Big difference.<\/strong><\/p>\n

My advice:<\/h2>\n

\nDon’t buy diamonds with a strong fluorescence.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nIf you want a white diamond<\/strong>, buy pure white stones.<\/a> Pure white, or colorless diamonds will look bright white<\/strong> and “POP<\/strong>” in the mounting like there’s a spot light<\/strong> on them.<\/p>\n

\nLeave blue-white in the past<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nWhere it belongs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nBecause it’s not <\/strong>white, it’s not <\/strong>blue…<\/p>\n

It’s florescent.<\/h2>\n

\nAnd that’s something to really be “blue<\/strong>” about.<\/p>\n
