I’ve been Thinking about Buying<\/strong> a Fitbit<\/a> for Quite a While.<\/p>\n

\nI’m Fascinated by the Concept of Counting Steps<\/strong>, Activity, and Heart Rate<\/strong>, among other things.<\/p>\n

\nI put it off even though I wanted one, and the Reason I Hesitated<\/strong> was this:<\/p>\n

PRICE!<\/h2>\n

\nNothing Else!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nThe Fitbit I wanted was the Charge HR<\/a> (The HR stands for Heart Rate<\/strong>), and the Price was $150<\/strong>. I could have gotten the Lesser Version<\/a> which would have Saved me Money<\/strong>, but I liked the idea of also Keeping Track of my Heart<\/strong>, and if I was going to get one, it seemed silly not to Spend that Couple of Bucks more… <\/p>\n

I Ended up Buying one because I ran into a Friend of mine<\/strong> who was Wearing a Fitbit. We started talking about it and he showed me all the Stats on his iPhone App<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I was Hooked!<\/h2>\n

\nHe said he tries to walk 10,000 Steps a day<\/strong> and he’s been Wearing one for Months and Loves it!<\/strong><\/p>\n

That did it!<\/h2>\n

\nI was SOLD! <\/strong><\/p>\n

\nHis Testimonial <\/strong>pushed me over my Obstacle, and I said “What the Heck<\/strong>” and bought one at Amazon<\/strong> (Because I Trust them<\/strong> and they have a Return Policy<\/strong>)! (See the Charge HR HERE!<\/a>)<\/p>\n

It Arrives!<\/h2>\n

\nI get my Fitbit Charge HR a Few Days Later (I Ordered a Large<\/strong>, which fits my Wrist Perfectly, even though my wrist is 7.5″).<\/p>\n

\nI left it sit on the counter for a Couple of Hours. I was thinking it would be a Long Complicated Setup<\/strong> and was going to put it off until the Next Day…<\/p>\n

\nBut then the Chicken was in the Oven<\/strong> and I had 20 minutes to Spare…<\/p>\n

So I open it up and these are the Contents of the Box:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Then I looked at the Set Up Guide<\/h2>\n

\n(That Folded Black Paper<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

\nIt was Painfully Simple.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It Said:<\/h2>\n

\nTo Set Up, Go To:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nwww.fitbit.com\/setup<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\"Fitbit<\/a><\/p>\n

SO…<\/h2>\n

\nI went to the Website<\/strong>. It’s Basically nothing but a Link to Download the App for your Smartphone<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That’s Smart!<\/h2>\n

\nSo I Grab my Apple iPhone<\/strong> and find “Fitbit<\/strong>” in the Apps and Download. <\/p>\n

\n\"Fitbit<\/a><\/p>\n

\nIt tells you to Power On the Fitbit<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nAnd then asks for some Basic Info about you… Age, Height, Weight<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

And then it wants to Sync to your Device…<\/h2>\n

\n\"Fitbit<\/p>\n

\nYou Input 4 Numbers<\/strong> from your Fitbit into the App…<\/p>\n

\n\"Fitbit<\/p>\n

\nAnd then it Starts Syncing the App to the Fitbit<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\n\"Setting
\nThe Setup Seriously took just a Couple of Minutes<\/strong>, and it was STUPID EASY!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nIt Synced to my Fitbit Wirelessly in Seconds<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nAnd in no time my Fitbit was Complete<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n\"Fitbit<\/p>\n

\nI was highly Impressed at how Easy it was<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Nothing’s that Easy!<\/h2>\n

\nThe Interface is Really Clean and Easy to Understand…<\/p>\n

\n\"Fitbit<\/p>\n

\nThe Battery on the Fitbit was Low<\/strong> (it shows that in the App to Remind you to Charge it<\/strong> with the USB Cord Included<\/strong>), so I Plugged it in to Charge.<\/p>\n

\nThe Instructions said it would take 1-2 hours for a Full Charge<\/strong>, and once Charged it would last for about 5 Days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

SWEET!<\/h2>\n

\nI Plug it in, Eat my Chicken<\/strong>, and afterwards I checked the Battery. It was Fully Charged already<\/strong> (1 hour).<\/p>\n

\nI put it on, Struggled with the Strap<\/strong> a little (until I Realized that there’s a Notch in the Strap that you have to pull up as you’re pulling the Band On and Off).<\/p>\n

\nI put it on and it Began Tracking my Progress Immediately<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nThe Fitbit<\/a> is made of Rubber<\/strong> and feels Very Light-Weight<\/strong> and Comfortable<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nAnd when you Tilt your Arm up<\/strong> (like you’re looking at a Watch), the Dial LED’s Light Up<\/strong> and Shows you the Time <\/strong>(Or Time and Date<\/strong>, or whatever other Function <\/strong>you want to show up first).<\/p>\n

\nAnd then, upon Pushing the Small Button on the Side of the Fitbit (once for each Function), it will also Display your Steps<\/strong>, Heart Rate, Distance Traveled, Calories Burned<\/strong> and Stairs Climbed, which you can see everything on the Fitbit<\/strong>, in the App<\/strong> (It Auto Syncs when you open the App<\/strong>), and Online (once it’s Synced from the App<\/strong>) as shown below in the Dashboard<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

So Cool!<\/h2>\n

\nMy Fitbit did come with 136 Steps already in the Device<\/strong>. I couldn’t find a way of Resetting <\/strong>that (online it says to Ignore those, they’ll drop off after Today anyway, and another Help Forum Stated that you can set those Steps to “Driving<\/strong>” Activity to basically Void them<\/strong>). I just left them, it’s not that Big of a Deal<\/strong>… That’s like Walking to the Fridge Twice!<\/strong> :)<\/p>\n

\nI was actually Surprised at how many Steps Add up in one Day (I must take a lot of Coffee and Bathroom Breaks<\/strong>), because the First Night (from 7pm to Midnight<\/strong>) I traveled 584 Steps<\/strong> and Burned 1708 Calories<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Next Day I did Much Better!<\/h2>\n

\nI walked 9,784 Steps<\/strong> (4.21 Miles).<\/p>\n

\nIt does seem Pretty Accurate to me. I Tested it on Multiple Occasions throughout the Day (looking at the Current Steps on the Fitbit<\/strong>, Walking and Counting Steps<\/strong>, and then looking back at the Fitbit to Double Check the Results<\/strong>). It was within 1 Step!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAnd I didn’t realize how much I really Walk. Just to go from my Car to the Store was 100 Steps<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nI also played around with Stride and Walked around the House Counting as I went just to Verify the Accuracy. It did really, really well<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nI did notice that sometimes it Counts my Hand Movements<\/strong> as a Step though, but it Records All Activity, Heart Rate and Calories Burned<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nSo while it’s Not Perfect<\/strong>, it is the Most Accurate Activity Recorder on the Market<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nI’m so Intrigued <\/strong>with all the Info it gives me (you’ll be Checking it Non-Stop<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\nThe Difference of my Heart Rate during Resting and then During Activities is an Eye-Opener<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nBut one thing that Surprised me<\/strong> more than anything was this:<\/p>\n

My Sleep!<\/h2>\n

\nI’ve always had a Problem Sleeping<\/strong>. I Sleep Very Light, have to Listen to White Noise (I have an App for that<\/strong>, called Relax Melodies<\/a>), and often have Insomnia<\/strong>. I Wake up Tired, am Restless, and find that around 2-3 each Afternoon, I get Very Sleepy<\/strong>. I know that’s a Downtime for Everyone, but I can always take a Cat-Nap<\/strong> in the Middle of the Day everyday.<\/p>\n

\nBut when I left the Fitbit on my Wrist Last Night to Track my Sleep…<\/strong><\/p>\n

I WAS ALARMED!<\/h2>\n

\nThis is what I saw:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\"Fitbit<\/p>\n

\nIt took me 1 Hour and 10 Minutes to Fall Asleep<\/strong>. And then I was Very Restless (14 times), Woke up 3 times, Tossed and Turned all Night, laid there for 6 Hours and 46 Minutes, and only Slept:<\/strong><\/p>\n

3 Hours and 25 Minutes!<\/h2>\n

\nWHAT?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nNo wonder why I’m so Tired all the time<\/strong>. I’m Not Getting any Sleep!!!<\/strong> And that 3 1\/2 Hours of Sleep was all Broken up into Small Little Segments…<\/p>\n

INSANE!<\/h2>\n

\nThe Fitbit is making me way more Aware of my Body, Sleep and Activities<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nAnd while it won’t make you Fit<\/strong> by Wearing one, it does make you Extremely Conscious of that Fact<\/strong>, and Forces you to want to become MORE Active<\/strong> to Achieve your Steps and Goals.<\/p>\n

It’s Mind over Matter!<\/h2>\n

\nIt’s just like a Calorie Counter<\/a>, it makes you think about it. And that in itself is enough to Make you Take Action!<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s Well Worth the Price!<\/h2>\n

\nI’m actually Quite Happy<\/strong> I Bought one.<\/p>\n

\nI Wear it all the time and only Take it Off when I Shower<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nMy Fitbit Charge HR is Black<\/a>, but you can Buy them in: Blue<\/a>, Plum<\/a>, and Tangerine<\/a>.<\/p>\n

(The Fitbit Flex<\/a> has More Colors Available<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

\nYou can also Purchase Fitbits in 3 Different Wrist Sizes: Small 5.4″ – 6.2″<\/strong>, Large 6.2″ – 7.6″<\/strong>, and Extra Large 7.7″ – 8.7″<\/strong> (The Fitbit Surge<\/a> is Available in Extra Large on Amazon, but the Charge HR in Extra Large<\/strong> is only Avilable on the Fitbit Website)<\/p>\n

\n\"Fitbit<\/p>\n

\nThe Fitbit Charge HR has a Customization Display<\/strong>, along with the App <\/strong>and Online Log<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nYou can set Specific Functions<\/strong> and even Set your Stride and Run Length<\/strong> (In case you have Shorter or Longer Strides).<\/p>\n

\nYou can also set the Sensitivity <\/strong>to Dominant Hand<\/strong>, which will make the Counter Less Sensitive<\/strong>, so it doesn’t Record as much Hand Movements, which is what I did. :)<\/p>\n

\nAnd, right before you Begin any Activity, Sleep, or Exercise<\/strong>, you can hold down the Button on the Fitbit (until it Vibrates<\/strong>) and it will Track that Activity<\/strong>, so it’s Easy to Log<\/strong> Later.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s Straight Forward, Very Simple<\/strong>, and the Two Green Flashing LED Lights<\/strong> on the Underside of the Watch are Ultra Cool!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nIf you’re Thinking about Buying one…<\/strong><\/p>\n

DO SO!<\/h2>\n

\n\"Fitbits<\/a><\/p>\n

\nThe Fitbit Charge HR<\/a> will Change the way you Think about being Active. It will make you want to become more Active to Achieve your Goals.<\/p>\n

\nPlus, it’ll also Count your Water Intake<\/strong> (8 Glasses a Day), Food <\/strong>Eaten, and many other things that will make you More Fit and Healthy!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nNow you can also get a more inexpensive Version of the Fitbit<\/a>, if you only want to Track a Couple of things. Like the Fitbit Charge does everything the Charge HR does except the Heart Rate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nAnd the Flex<\/a> also Tracks Steps, Calories, Distance, Sleep and Active Minutes, but it Doesn’t Track Floors Climbed<\/strong> (Stairs), and it doesn’t have a Clock <\/strong>(Something I NEED <\/strong>since I always wear a Watch and my Fitbit Replaced that<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\nI could have also Bought the SURGE<\/a>, which is much Bigger and has a Huge Easy-To-Read Face<\/strong> that shows everything at once (Versus pushing a Button to see them all<\/strong>), but the only True Differences (besides the Size of the Watch, Face and Hefty Price Tag<\/strong>) was that you could also Control Music<\/strong>, Notifications <\/strong>(like Text Messages), and it has a GPS Tracker<\/strong>. Neither of which Appealed to me, so the “Perfect Fit<\/strong>” for me was the Charge HR<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nAnd you can also upgrade and get a PREMIUM Fitbit<\/strong>, which is more like a Personal Trainer<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nBut that’s too much for me. HA!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nSo far, I’m LOVING the Awareness<\/strong>, Feel<\/strong>, and Extra Steps<\/strong> I take.<\/p>\n

\nThat’s Something you really Can’t Get Enough of<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nIt Certainly gets my Heart Rate going!<\/strong> :)<\/p>\n
