You could compare Two Diamonds (<strong>1 Carat for Example<\/strong>), and one could sell for <strong>Thousands of Dollars Less<\/strong> than the other.<\/p>\n<p><h2>WHY?<\/h2>\n<p>\nIs there a reason <strong>one Diamond is So Cheap?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><h2>Of Course!<\/h2>\n<p>\nThey&#8217;re <strong>Always <\/strong>Cheaper for a Reason.<\/p>\n<p>\nA Jeweler isn&#8217;t going to sell a Stone Thousands Cheaper <strong>just to be Nice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\nEven if they Bought the Diamond at a Good Deal, Chances are, <strong>they&#8217;ll still Sell it for what it&#8217;s Worth<\/strong> (The Going Rate).<\/p>\n<p><h2>Otherwise, Why Bother?<\/h2>\n<p>\nSo let&#8217;s Dive in and see why one Stone would be <strong>Sold Much Cheaper<\/strong> than another&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>Starting with&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><h2>1) Bad Cut<\/h2>\n<p>\nThe Cut of a Diamond is probably the <strong>#1 Reason WHY a Diamond is Cheaper<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>Poor Cuts<\/strong>, or a <strong>Bad Make<\/strong>, makes the Diamond look <strong>Lumpy<\/strong>, or Thin, <strong>Dark<\/strong>, Lifeless and <strong>Sparkleless<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\nPretty Much every reason <strong>why we LOVE Diamonds<\/strong> is Squashed by a Bad Cut.<\/p>\n<p>\nI would Stay away from Diamonds with Cut Grades of: <strong>Good, Fair, or Poor<\/strong> (As listed on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jewelry-secrets.com\/Blog\/how-to-read-a-gia-diamond-report\/\">GIA Diamond Report<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>\nStick with &#8220;<strong>Excellent<\/strong>&#8221; if you can (The <strong>BEST <\/strong>Cut), or &#8220;<strong>Very Good<\/strong>&#8221; the next Best Thing.<\/p>\n<p>\nThat way your Diamond will Sparkle Greatly, Regardless of <strong>Clarity, Color, or Carat Weight!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><h2>2) Low Clarity<\/h2>\n<p>\nIf the Diamond&#8217;s Cheap, it may be <strong>the Lowest Clarity Grades on the Market:<\/strong> The I Clarity Group (which is <strong>I1, I2, and I3<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>\nDiamonds in the I Clarity Grades WILL have <strong>Eye-Visible Flaws<\/strong> that are <strong>Easy to Spot<\/strong> just by looking at the Diamond (No <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B00EXPWU8S\/?tag=jewelry-secrets-20\">Jeweler&#8217;s Loupe<\/a> or a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/B005MZ7BQY\/?tag=jewelry-secrets-20\">Microscope<\/a> Needed).<\/p>\n<p>\nYou&#8217;ll often see <strong>Big Black Spots<\/strong>, Foggy Areas, <strong>Cracks<\/strong>, Lines, <strong>Fractures <\/strong>and Chips&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><h2>That&#8217;s what I Clarity Means; Included!<\/h2>\n<p>\n<strong>Included and Eye-Visible!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\nIt&#8217;s also why <strong>it&#8217;s Cheap<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\nDo you want your Fiancee to see Flaws for <strong>the Rest of her Life?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\nGenerally it&#8217;s Best to Purchase <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jamesallen.com\/loose-diamonds\/round-cut\/?CaratFrom=1.00&#038;CaratTo=15&#038;Color=F,E,D&#038;Clarity=SI1,VS2,VS1,VVS2,VVS1,IF&#038;Cut=Ideal,Excellent,TrueHearts&#038;PriceFrom=&#038;PriceTo=&#038;Sort=Price,%20DefaultOrder&#038;ViewsOptions=Images&#038;showAdvanced=show&#038;Polish=EX,ID&#038;Symmetry=EX,ID&#038;Lab=GIA&#038;Flour=None,Negligible&#038;DepthFrom=45.0&#038;DepthTo=80.0&#038;TableFrom=50.0&#038;TableTo=83.0\">SI1 Clarity Diamonds or Higher<\/a>, just so the Imperfections stay Small, Unseen unless you use <strong>10x Magnification<\/strong>, and <strong>won&#8217;t Detract from the Beauty of the Stone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><h2>3) Low Color<\/h2>\n<p>\nLet&#8217;s Face it, <strong>Yellow Diamonds Don&#8217;t Sell Well!<\/strong> A Diamond with a Yellow Hue makes the Stone Look <strong>Dingy, Old, and Stained<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><h2>Not Very Pretty!<\/h2>\n<p>\nGranted, <strong>95% of all the Diamonds<\/strong> on the Market have some Degree of &#8220;<strong>Yellow<\/strong>&#8221; in them, but usually it&#8217;s the <strong>Near Colorless Range<\/strong> where it&#8217;s Not so Obvious.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe Low Color that I&#8217;m talking about is more in the <strong>K-L-M Ranges<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>\nThose are Stones where <strong>the Yellow becomes really Apparent<\/strong>, Dark, and tends to Stand out.<\/p>\n<p>\nBut hey, some People don&#8217;t mind <strong>a nice &#8220;Warm&#8221; Color<\/strong>, and it does bring the Price down Greatly. It all comes down to <strong>Preference<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>\nIf Color doesn&#8217;t bug you, look at a Lower Color Range and <strong>Save Yourself Some Money<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\nBut if you&#8217;re like Most, <strong>White Looks Better and Brighter<\/strong> (G-H-I-J). And if you&#8217;re Like Me, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jamesallen.com\/loose-diamonds\/round-cut\/?CaratFrom=1.00&#038;CaratTo=15&#038;Color=F,E,D&#038;Clarity=SI1,VS2,VS1,VVS2,VVS1,IF&#038;Cut=Ideal,Excellent,TrueHearts&#038;PriceFrom=&#038;PriceTo=&#038;Sort=Price,%20DefaultOrder&#038;ViewsOptions=Images&#038;showAdvanced=show&#038;Polish=EX,ID&#038;Symmetry=EX,ID&#038;Lab=GIA&#038;Flour=None,Negligible&#038;DepthFrom=45.0&#038;DepthTo=80.0&#038;TableFrom=50.0&#038;TableTo=83.0\">I ONLY Prefer Pure White Diamonds<\/a> (D-E-F &#8211; <strong>The Best Color Range there is<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p><h2>4) Fluorescence<\/h2>\n<p>\nThis often gets over looked because <strong>it&#8217;s Not a 4C<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\nPeople may not Realize that <strong>Fluorescence can Affect a Diamond so much<\/strong>, but it does in <strong>Price<\/strong>, and in <strong>Appearance<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>\nFluorescence can (not always) make a Diamond look <strong>Weird in Regular Light<\/strong> (Indoors or Outside).<\/p>\n<p>\nDiamonds with Fluorescence can look <strong>Foggy, Hazy, Cloudy or Blurry!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\nThis Fluorescence can make a High Quality Diamond (Like <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jamesallen.com\/loose-diamonds\/round-cut\/?CaratFrom=1.00&#038;CaratTo=15&#038;Color=E&#038;Clarity=VS2&#038;Cut=Ideal,Excellent,TrueHearts&#038;PriceFrom=&#038;PriceTo=&#038;Sort=Price,%20DefaultOrder&#038;ViewsOptions=Images&#038;showAdvanced=show&#038;Polish=EX,ID&#038;Symmetry=EX,ID&#038;Lab=GIA&#038;Flour=None,Negligible&#038;DepthFrom=45.0&#038;DepthTo=80.0&#038;TableFrom=50.0&#038;TableTo=83.0\">VS2, E<\/a>) look <strong>Poor and Lifeless!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\nAnd if the Diamond doesn&#8217;t Sparkle, <strong>who wants it???<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\nNow it&#8217;s True that Fluorescence <strong>doesn&#8217;t Affect ALL Diamonds<\/strong>. Some Stones have it and <strong>look Normal to the Eye<\/strong>. But others will look like there&#8217;s a Film or Haze over the Stone.<\/p>\n<p><h2>Like it&#8217;s Full of Smoke!<\/h2>\n<p>\nIt&#8217;s something that you need to see, to Appreciate.<\/p>\n<p>\nPlus, Fluorescence can also make your Diamond <strong>Glow In The Dark!<\/strong> If a Diamond has Fluorescence, <strong>it&#8217;ll be Listed right on the Diamond Report<\/strong>. Make sure you look for it. <\/p>\n<p>\nIf you want to stay Safe, and Not take a Chance that a Particular Stone could look <strong>Foggy or Odd<\/strong>, then <strong>SKIP Fluorescence<\/strong>, and look for &#8220;<strong>NONE<\/strong>&#8221; on the Certificate!<\/p>\n<p><h2>5) Certification<\/h2>\n<p>\n<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gia.edu\/\">GIA<\/a> (The Gemological Institute Of America), is the Leading and <strong>BEST Diamond Grading Company in the World<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\nBut, they&#8217;re also the <strong>Most Expensive<\/strong> and <strong>Most Strict!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\nSo many Jewelers, especially ones who want a more <strong>Lax Diamond Grade<\/strong>, will Opt for other Certification Companies (Like <strong>EGL and IGI<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>\nIt makes the Cost of the <strong>Stone Cheaper<\/strong>, makes the Grades of the Stone more <strong>Questionable<\/strong>, and makes the Diamond Appear <strong>Better than it really is<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><h2>I Don&#8217;t Advise them!<\/h2>\n<p>\nYou may Save a Couple of Bucks on the Report, but <strong>if it&#8217;s Not Accurate<\/strong>, or if the Quality is Bumped Up (<strong>Misrepresented<\/strong>), then it&#8217;s <strong>NOT a Deal<\/strong>, <strong>you&#8217;re Not getting the Real Quality you Wanted<\/strong>, and you&#8217;re Spending <strong>MORE <\/strong>for a Stone than you Should (Because you think you&#8217;re Buying an <strong>SI1<\/strong>, and it&#8217;s really an <strong>SI2<\/strong> &#8211; Just for Example).<\/p>\n<p><h2>Don&#8217;t Do It!<\/h2>\n<p>\nStick with <strong>GIA, or AGS<\/strong>, and get an Accurate Report and the <strong>REAL Grade<\/strong> for your Diamond.<\/p>\n<p><h2>6) Carat Weight<\/h2>\n<p>\nYou may ask to See and Compare a <strong>One Carat Diamond<\/strong>, and they&#8217;ll bring a Stone out and say &#8220;It&#8217;s an <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jamesallen.com\/loose-diamonds\/round-cut\/?CaratFrom=0.93&#038;CaratTo=15.00&#038;Color=F&#038;Clarity=SI2&#038;Cut=Ideal,Excellent,TrueHearts&#038;PriceFrom=200&#038;PriceTo=999000&#038;Sort=Price,%20DefaultOrder&#038;ViewsOptions=Images&#038;showAdvanced=show&#038;Polish=EX,ID&#038;Symmetry=EX,ID&#038;Lab=GIA&#038;Flour=None,Negligible&#038;DepthFrom=45.0&#038;DepthTo=80.0&#038;TableFrom=50.0&#038;TableTo=83.0\">SI2, F, with Excellent Cut and No Fluorescence<\/a> (as an Example), and <strong>the Price is $3,900!<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><h2>You Ask WHY The Price is So Cheap?<\/h2>\n<p>\nAnd they Say &#8220;<strong>We have Really Good Deals, and have the Best Prices on Diamonds in Town!<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><h2>It Sounds GREAT!<\/h2>\n<p>\nUntil you find out that <strong>the Diamond is only .93 Carat<\/strong>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;I Thought this was a <strong>One Carat?<\/strong>&#8221; You Ask.<\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;<strong>It is!<\/strong> Carat Weights can Vary by as Much as <strong>7 Points<\/strong> one way or the other!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><h2>And THAT Is TRUE!<\/h2>\n<p>\nBut it also makes it what they call a &#8220;<strong>Light Carat Weight<\/strong>&#8221; Diamond, which is <strong>SHY of the Real Mark<\/strong>, and it brings the Price of the Stone Down <strong>Big Time!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><h2>Usually by Hundreds or Thousands of Dollars!<\/h2>\n<p>\nIn fact, it&#8217;s Usually <strong>such a Good Deal<\/strong>, that <strong>I actually ADVISE it!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\nAppearance wise, the Stone will <strong>Look the Same Size<\/strong>, because the Eyes can&#8217;t Detect the Difference between a Couple of Points, but <strong>your Pocket Book will!<\/strong> :)<\/p>\n<p>\nSo if it&#8217;s Cheaper, it could be Less than the Actual Carat Weight thought&#8230; A One Carat could be .93, .94, .95, or so on, and a 1\/2 Carat (50 Points), could be just <strong>.43 Points instead<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><h2>It all makes it Cheaper!<\/h2>\n<p>\nBut, hey, if it <strong>Saves you $1,000<\/strong>, who&#8217;s going to <strong>Complain<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>Lastly&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><h2>7) Diamond Shape<\/h2>\n<p>\nThe <strong>Round Diamond<\/strong> is the <strong>Most Expensive Cut<\/strong> there is (Because of <strong>Popularity <\/strong>and <strong>Demand<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>\nThese are Quickly followed by <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jamesallen.com\/loose-diamonds\/princess-cut\/?CaratFrom=0.93&#038;CaratTo=15.00&#038;Color=F,E,D&#038;Clarity=SI1,VS2,VS1,VVS2,VVS1,IF&#038;Cut=Ideal,Excellent,TrueHearts&#038;PriceFrom=200&#038;PriceTo=999000&#038;Sort=Price,%20DefaultOrder&#038;ViewsOptions=Images&#038;advancedParameter=Shape&#038;showAdvanced=show&#038;Polish=EX,ID&#038;Symmetry=EX,ID&#038;Lab=GIA&#038;Flour=None,Negligible&#038;DepthFrom=45.0&#038;DepthTo=80.0&#038;TableFrom=50.0&#038;TableTo=83.0\">the Princess Cut<\/a>, the <strong>Second Most Popular Stone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\nBut did you know that all the other <strong>Shapes of Diamond are CHEAPER?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><h2>Take this Cushion Cut Diamond for Example:<\/h2>\n<p>\nThis <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jamesallen.com\/loose-diamonds\/cushion-cut\/1.01-carat-g-color-si1-clarity-sku-762016\">Cushion Cut Diamond, SI1, G<\/a>, is Selling for $3,270.<\/p>\n<p>\nAs Compared to a Round Diamond with the <strong>Exact Same Specifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\n<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jamesallen.com\/loose-diamonds\/round-cut\/1.01-carat-g-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-436021\">One Carat Round, SI1, G Diamond Selling for $6,010!<\/a><\/p>\n<p><h2>That&#8217;s almost DOUBLE the Price!<\/h2>\n<p>\n<strong>Eye Opener isn&#8217;t it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\nJust the Shape itself is enough to <strong>Knock off THOUSANDS in Price!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><h2>INSANE!<\/h2>\n<p>\n<strong>That&#8217;s some Savings!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\nSo the Shape may make a Diamond more <strong>Affordable <\/strong>as well, <strong>which is a Great thing!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\nBut, if it&#8217;s Cheaper because of Clarity, Cut, Color, or Fluorescence, then <strong>you may want to Reconsider!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><h2>P.S.<\/h2>\n<p>\nOften, some Diamonds are even Cheaper because they <strong>AREN&#8217;T CERTIFIED as well!<\/strong> (<strong>Never Buy Those!<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p>\nThey have <strong>No Diamond Report<\/strong>, just an Instore <strong>Appraisal <\/strong>which is Very Questionable and <strong>SCARY<\/strong>! (Who&#8217;s Grading your Stone? The Old Man in the Back Room???) You really don&#8217;t know <strong>WHAT Diamond or What Quality you&#8217;re Buying!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><h2>My Recommendation:<\/h2>\n<p>\nBuy a Stone that&#8217;s <strong>SI1 or Higher<\/strong>, <strong>Near Colorless or Higher<\/strong>, Certified by <strong>GIA<\/strong>, and ones with &#8220;<strong>Excellent<\/strong>&#8221; or &#8220;<strong>Very Good<\/strong>&#8221; Cuts and <strong>NO Fluorescence<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jamesallen.com\/loose-diamonds\/round-cut\/?CaratFrom=0.93&#038;CaratTo=15.00&#038;Color=J,I,H,G,F,E,D&#038;Clarity=SI1,VS2,VS1,VVS2,VVS1,IF&#038;Cut=Very%20Good,Ideal,Excellent,TrueHearts&#038;PriceFrom=200&#038;PriceTo=999000&#038;Sort=Price,%20DefaultOrder&#038;ViewsOptions=Images&#038;showAdvanced=show&#038;Polish=EX,ID,VG&#038;Symmetry=EX,ID,VG&#038;Lab=GIA&#038;Flour=None,Negligible&#038;DepthFrom=45.0&#038;DepthTo=80.0&#038;TableFrom=50.0&#038;TableTo=83.0\">As with these Diamonds Here at James Allen!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n&#8230;AND, By <strong>Buying ONLINE<\/strong>, that also makes the Stone <strong>Cheaper<\/strong>.
