You know how Stores always say “We Give you 100% Upgrade Value on your Diamond?<\/strong>“<\/p>\n

\nIt’s Pretty Common Place for Jewelry Stores!<\/p>\n

\nJust about every Jeweler across the Country does this, and usually it’s when you Double the Price of the Original Purchase<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

That’ll Cost You!<\/h2>\n

\nSo if you bought a Diamond Solitaire for $5,000<\/strong>, you’d have to Upgrade it for a Diamond that’s at least $10,000 or MORE!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n(Which is usually the Next Step up<\/strong> in Carat Weight anyway)<\/p>\n

\nAnd, if you don’t Double the Price, they’ll usually still allow you to Upgrade your Stone, but the Value of the Upgrade will Lesser<\/strong> depending on the New Purchase Price.<\/p>\n

For Example:<\/h2>\n

\nSay you’re looking at a Bigger Diamond that’s only $7,500<\/strong>. It’s Not Double the Price so the Store will only give you $3,750 in Trade-In<\/strong> versus the $5 Grand that you paid.<\/p>\n

It’s Half the New Price!<\/h2>\n

\nSee what I’m Saying?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nIt’s all in Comparison to what you’re Buying. The More you Buy, the more likely you’ll get that 100% Full Value Trade-In Price<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Double Dipping<\/h2>\n

\nPlus, you also have to realize that some Companies won’t allow Double Dipping!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nDouble Dipping is when you’re trying to get 100% Upgrade Value towards a New Item that’s already Heavily Discounted<\/strong>. It’s like a Sales Price on a Sales Price. Most Stores don’t allow this…<\/p>\n

\nUnless they also apply that same “Sales Price Value<\/strong>” towards your “Upgrade Value<\/strong>” as well (Like giving you 40% off your Upgrade Price<\/strong> towards an item that’s on Sale 40% Off<\/strong>). <\/p>\n

\nAfter all, no Jeweler wants to Lose Money in the Process<\/strong> (there isn’t a Big Mark-up on Diamonds<\/strong> like many would think).<\/p>\n

\nAnd… Realize this:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Your Upgrade may be VOID<\/h2>\n

\nThere’s a Very Good Disclaimer<\/strong> in every Upgrade Policy that states: Your Diamond Must be in Like-New Condition!<\/strong> Which means, it can’t be Damaged, Chipped, Cracked or Broken.<\/p>\n

\nIt has to look like the Diamond the Day you bought it<\/strong> in order to get 100% Full Value.<\/p>\n

\n(Note this applies towards the Diamond only and not the Mounting<\/strong>. The Mounting will of course, show signs of Wear, that’s Normal and Expected<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

\nBut the Diamond must be New, and in the same Condition it states on the Appraisal or Certificate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n(For a Chipped Diamond will Alter the Clarity <\/strong>of the Stone, as well as the Value<\/strong>, and a New Certificate<\/strong> will have to be Created!)<\/p>\n

\"You<\/p>\n

And Speaking of Certificates…<\/h2>\n

\nThose must be Returned too!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nYou’d be Surprised how many people forget this…<\/p>\n

\nCertificates (Like GIA or AGS<\/strong>) Cost Money, and without it, they’ll Deduct a Couple of Hundred Dollars<\/strong> off that Trade-In Price so they can Replace them!<\/p>\n

Now, back to the Damage…<\/h2>\n

\nMost people think that Diamonds are Invincible<\/strong>… They won’t Scratch, Chip or Break<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

But They Do!<\/h2>\n

\nDiamonds can Chip or Break if hit hard enough<\/strong>. They Pointed Edges of the Stone (Where the Facets Come Together) can often Wear Down, Chip, or Show Signs of Abrasion<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nJust look at your Grandma’s Ring<\/strong> (who’s worn it for 60 Years<\/strong>) and you’ll probably see the Edges of the Facets or Girdle Chipped and Worn…<\/p>\n

\n\"Diamond<\/p>\n

\nSo I always suggest to Buy yourself a Jeweler’s Loupe<\/a> and Check the Facets and Girdle<\/strong> of the Stone before you Trade it in. See if it has Chips, Cracks, or Fractures in the Stone. Because a Damaged Stone could VOID your Trade-In Value<\/strong>, or Greatly Diminish it.<\/p>\n

Will you get 100% Value for your Upgrade?<\/h2>\n

\nMaybe, Maybe Not!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nIt all depends on What you Buy<\/strong>, What the Discount<\/strong> is, and What your Stone Looks Like<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
