Okay, this is a HOOT!<\/h2>\n

\nEvery now and then, I check my Googly Analytics<\/strong> to see what “key words<\/strong>” brings people to my site…<\/p>\n

\nAnd believe it or not, I got this:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n“My Sterling Silver tastes like Onions!<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

LMAO<\/h2>\n

\nWHAT?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nI’m trying to picture a situation where someone would eat their rings<\/strong>, and I’m not buying it. <\/p>\n

\nGranted, they could be licking their jewelry<\/strong>, but that doesn’t bode well either.<\/p>\n

What I do imagine is this:<\/h2>\n

\nSomeone with a nervous habit<\/strong>, a tick, sitting on their couch watching tv (most likely The Walking Dead<\/a>), gripping their necklace in their teeth and gently biting on the pendant<\/strong> or chain…<\/p>\n

See, now you picture that too!<\/h2>\n

\nPeople do it with locks of their own hair<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nSome people shake their leg<\/strong>. Others bite their nails<\/strong>. Some eat their mattress <\/strong>(did you see that My Strange Addiction<\/a>?)<\/p>\n

\nNervous habits get everyone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

So why not with a necklace???<\/h2>\n

\nI can totally see them making a weird expression or a disgusted face<\/strong> when they realize, that YES<\/strong>, Sterling Silver probably does taste like onions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nSo, WHY does it taste like vegetables? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Because of oxidation!<\/h2>\n

\nSilver oxidates and leaves black and green marks<\/strong> on your body and skin. This happens naturally when silver meets air<\/strong>. There’s no way to stop it, other than coating the silver with a plating like rhodium <\/strong>to keep the two from making contact.<\/p>\n

\nThis oxidation very clearly could taste like onions<\/strong> (never tried it).<\/p>\n

\nAnd no, I don’t recommend doing this, who knows what silver does to the body<\/strong>… But then again, as a kid, I did eat a lot of pennies<\/strong>, not silver, but they do leave a weird aftertaste <\/strong>in your mouth as well.<\/p>\n

\nSo if your jewelry tastes like onions, it’s a safe bet that it probably needs cleaning<\/strong> (and not a spit shine<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\nGet your silver jewelry cleaner here<\/a>…<\/p>\n

\nAt least these onions won’t make you cry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
