Want to learn the 4 C’s of diamonds FAST?<\/h2>\n

\nWant to understand the basic concept<\/strong> quickly with no B.S?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nThen here we go…<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 4 C’s<\/h2>\n

\nThe 4 C’s are 4 categories<\/strong> used to grade <\/strong>diamonds with, evaluate <\/strong>diamonds, and price <\/strong>diamonds by. <\/p>\n

\nThey are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

CUT, COLOR, CLARITY AND CARAT WEIGHT<\/h2>\n

\n(In order of importance!<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

\nIf you can grasp a basic knowledge<\/strong> of these 4 categories, it will not only help you choose an awesome diamond<\/strong>, but it will also keep you from getting ripped off<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nSo let’s start with the first C…<\/p>\n

\nCUT:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

Diamond Cut<\/h2>\n

\nThe diamond cut is crucial <\/strong>to the sparkle and beauty<\/strong> of a diamond. The better the cut is, the more life, brilliance, fire and scintillation that diamond will have.<\/p>\n

\nCut is graded with 5 different cut grades: Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair and Poor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n\"GIA<\/p>\n

\nExcellent is the best<\/strong>, and if you truly want a diamond to look kick ass<\/strong>, then opt for “Excellent<\/strong>” or at the very least “Very Good<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

\n2 other grades that go hand in hand with cut are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Polish and Symmetry<\/h2>\n

\nIf you can also get “Excellent<\/strong>” grades in these two areas as well, then you’ll have what they call a Triple Excellent Diamond<\/strong>, which are those wonderful Hearts and Arrows<\/strong> (also called Hearts on Fire, True Hearts<\/a> and Signature Ideal<\/a>). These are the finest and best looking diamond cuts<\/strong> in the world! <\/p>\n

\nNext up, Color:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

Diamond Color<\/h2>\n

\nDiamond color is the actual hue or body tone<\/strong> of the diamond. Most diamonds have some color in them<\/strong>, to find one “Colorless<\/strong>” or “Pure White<\/strong>” is rare.<\/p>\n

\nDiamond color ranges from D color (the best<\/strong>), all the way down the alphabet to Z (which have lots of color<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\n\"Diamond<\/p>\n

\nThe best grades are in the top 2 color ranges: D, E, F, which is “Colorless<\/strong>“, and G-H-I-J, which is “Near Colorless<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

\nAll these grades will face up nice and look good. But I do suggest trying to stick with at least G-H or higher<\/strong>. If possible. Because when you get into whiter diamonds, especially the “Colorless<\/strong>” ones, you’ll get into stones that are extremely white, and will make the diamond look bigger, better, and brighter<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nD-E-F diamonds are breathtaking!<\/a><\/p>\n

\nNext up… Clarity:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

Diamond Clarity<\/h2>\n

\nDiamond clarity<\/strong> is the tiny little imperfections that are present in a diamond. Almost all diamonds have them<\/strong>. They are like birthmarks <\/strong>on people. They’ve been inside the stone since the stone was created billions of years ago<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nInclusions can be black spots, lines, fractures, chips, cloudy spots, pin points… or tons of other flaws that show up inside<\/strong> a stone (as well as on the surface<\/strong>, or outside of the stone).<\/p>\n

\nThe better, or cleaner the stone gets, the more rare and expensive it becomes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

There are 11 Clarity Grades in all:<\/h2>\n

\nFL, IF, VVS1, VVS2, VS1, VS2, SI1, SI2, I1, I2, I3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nI clarity grades (I1, I2, I3<\/strong>) are the lowest grades<\/strong> you can buy. They are popular because there’s an abundance <\/strong>of them, and they are CHEAP<\/strong>. But they WILL <\/strong>have eye-visible inclusions<\/strong> in them (seen with the bare eye<\/strong>). This is why I don’t recommend them. <\/p>\n

\nWhen you get into the SI range (Slightly Included<\/strong>) or higher, you get into better clarity diamonds, where the flaws are microscopic only<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nThat’s why I advise purchasing a diamond that’s at least SI1 or higher<\/strong> (SI2 diamonds are borderline and questionable<\/strong>…) <\/p>\n

\nAfter all, you don’t want her to be seeing black spots<\/strong> for the rest of her life. Do you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAnd since SI1 diamonds have microscopic flaws ONLY<\/strong>, you could actually place them side by side with a Flawless diamond<\/a>, and you’d never know the difference (unless you used a Microscope<\/a> or a 10x Jeweler’s Loupe<\/a>).<\/p>\n

\nNext up… Carat Weight:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

Diamond Carat Weight<\/h2>\n

\nThe carat weight, is how much the diamond weighs. Which can be a little confusing to some, with all the percentages and fractions<\/strong>… But it’s easy to comprehend if you just think about carats like MONEY!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nThink of a one dollar bill<\/strong>. That breaks down to 1.00 ct, or 100 pennies<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nNow, think of a 1 carat diamond<\/strong>. A 1 carat diamond is 1.00, and that breaks down into 100 points. <\/p>\n

Just like Green Backs!<\/h2>\n

\nSo if you think about a 1\/2 carat<\/strong>. Think 50 points, or .50 carat.<\/p>\n

\n1\/4 carat<\/strong> is 25 points, or .25 carat.<\/p>\n

\n3\/4 carat<\/strong> is 75 points, or .75 carat.<\/p>\n

\nThe dream carat weight<\/strong> is 1.00 carat, or course. But, the average carat weight<\/strong> for an engagement ring diamond, is only .38 carats<\/strong>. Which isn’t very big at all!<\/p>\n

But here’s a quick tip…<\/h2>\n

\nBUY SHY!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nIf you’re thinking about buying a 1.00 carat diamond. DON’T!<\/strong> Buy a couple of points SHY<\/strong>. Buy 94 or 95 points<\/strong> instead. Because buying a few points under the mark<\/strong>, will actually save you tons of money, and you’ll still get a diamond that faces up like a 1 carat<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Sweet!<\/h2>\n

\nThis is true of all carat weights. Instead of buying a 1\/2 carat, buy 44 points instead<\/strong>. Thinking of buying a 3\/4 carat? Buy 71 points instead!!!<\/strong> They look the same, and save you MONEY<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

So that’s the gist of the 4C’s.<\/h2>\n

\nBut, there are a couple of more important tips<\/strong> that I’d like to go over…<\/p>\n

Tips and Tricks:<\/h2>\n

\nThe round diamond (brilliant cut) is the MOST expensive diamond shape<\/strong> there is. So if you shift into a princess cut<\/a>, cushion cut<\/a>, or any other fancy shaped diamond<\/strong>, you can actually save THOUSANDS <\/strong>of dollars! Really!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n\"The<\/p>\n

\nAnd then, there’s Certification:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Diamond Certification<\/h2>\n

\nCertification matters!<\/strong> A lot! <\/p>\n

\nIf you’re buying a single diamond, make sure it’s GIA certified<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This is a MUST!<\/h2>\n

\n\"GIA<\/a><\/p>\n

\nAnd finally, one last HUGE TIP:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

Make sure the Diamond has NO Fluorescence!<\/h2>\n

\n\"Diamond<\/p>\n

\nFluorescence can make a diamond look foggy<\/strong>, hazy, milky or cloudy… Regardless of the 4C’s!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAnd that would be a real shame<\/strong> if you just spent $9,000<\/strong> on a VS1, E, Triple Excellent Diamond<\/a> (my favorite<\/strong>, like this diamond shown below)…<\/p>\n

\n\"Best<\/a><\/p>\n

\nSo check for fluorescence <\/strong>on a GIA diamond report, and make sure it has “none<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

\n(All the info talked about in these 4C’s are right on a diamond report! Make sure you look!<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

\nAnd that’s the quick and easy 4C’s!<\/strong><\/p>\n
