\nSizing a ring for someone who has Slender Fingers<\/strong>, but Bigger Knuckles<\/strong> is always a problem.<\/p>\n

\nBecause the ring never fits rights!<\/strong> <\/p>\n

\nIt either spins<\/strong>, slides off<\/strong>, or HURTS!<\/strong><\/p>\n

So what’s the trick?<\/h2>\n

\nThere is no trick, just different ways<\/strong> to approach this.<\/p>\n

Let’s go over the Options:<\/h2>\n

  1. \n

    Have your Ring Sized Professionally –<\/h2>\n

    This is the tried and true way… Have your ring sized<\/strong> as small as you can, so it’s TIGHT over the knuckle<\/strong>. You’ll have to give the ring quite a PUSH <\/strong>to get it over. This generally works fine for most individuals, although many people don’t want their ring that tight on the knuckle, but it’s the key to having it fit better once it’s over. Once on, you’ll probably have to use lotion or soap to remove the ring. Most people tend to have the ring sized so it slides over the knuckle easily, but that just makes the ring really loose and you’ll end up losing it! Get it sized as snug as you can, and then, if all else fails, look into other alternatives like the ones below…<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Ring Guards –<\/h2>\n

    This is the most popular choice <\/strong>for Jewelers. It’s a piece of flat metal<\/strong> that they wrap around the base of your ring, and it helps take up some of the slack. It makes your ring feel tighter<\/strong>, and it keeps it from spinning<\/strong> around. It’s one of the most effective and cheapest ways to accomplish this.     Sizing Balls –<\/h2>\n

    Sizing balls are little dabs of gold<\/strong>, or metal, that Jewelers solder <\/strong>inside your shank. They work well! <\/strong>They are smooth, push into the folds of your skin slightly, are comfortable<\/strong>, inexpensive to have done, keep your ring upright, and are extremely effective<\/strong>. I highly recommend this trick. In my opinion, it’s the best you can get<\/strong>. Go see your local Jeweler and talk about sizing balls TODAY!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    Plastic Ring Guards –<\/h2>\n

    These are quite effective as well. And, you can take them on and off easily, when ever you want. You just roll them on, hook them over, or snap them in place and they help keep your ring from spinning or flopping, make your ring snugger, and feel comfortable as well. There are many types of Plastic Ring Guards<\/a> like: Snuggies<\/a>, and Ring Slinkies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  5. \n

    Ring Shrinker –<\/h2>\n

    One of the newest ways to size a ring, is by using a Ring Shrinker<\/a>. It’s resin that you paint onto the inside of your ring, then harden with an ultraviolet light<\/strong> (black light included), and it makes it hard and wearable, and makes the ring fit snugger<\/strong>. Plus, it also makes it difficult to detect (invisible<\/strong>). It’s an interesting way of doing things that’s safe <\/strong>for all metals, and durable <\/strong>as well. Give it a try!<\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  6. \n

    Arthritis Ring Shanks –<\/h2>\n

    This technique works, but it’s not cheap!<\/strong> The jeweler literally cuts the entire bottom of your ring off, and solders a new base, that hinges and opens up<\/strong> so you can slide it over your knuckle. They’re made for people with huge knuckles, injuries, pregnancy, weight gain, aging, or arthritis<\/strong>. They DO<\/strong> work, but I would only go here as a last alternative.     Thread and Yarn –<\/h2>\n

    Lastly, do what you did in high school <\/strong>with your class rings<\/strong>… Wrap yarn or thread around the base and have at it. It still works. It’s cheap<\/strong>. Maybe not all that attractive, but hey, it won’t slip off<\/strong>, spin, or get lost. And isn’t that the goal?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
