\nNow I’ve heard it all<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nI had a customer come into the store the other day, looking to trade-in her diamond<\/strong> towards a much bigger one…<\/p>\n

No Problem!<\/h2>\n

\nUntil…<\/p>\n

\nShe tells me that her diamond is Flawless, saying “My diamond is Flawless <\/strong>with just one visible black spot<\/strong> in the center…”<\/p>\n

Oh Boy…<\/h2>\n

\n(Customers always think their stones are flawless<\/em>, or extremely high quality–when they’re not! This is actually nothing new<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n

\nYou see, Flawless and “a visible black spot<\/strong>” are oxymorons, totally opposite sides<\/strong> of the spectrum. <\/p>\n

\nA Flawless diamond can’t have eye-visible inclusions<\/strong>. And if the diamond does have things that you can see with the eye (no microscope<\/a> or 10x jeweler’s loupe<\/a> needed), then it’s not Flawless<\/strong>. It’s Included<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

\nI Clarity means “Included<\/strong>“. You can see inclusions with the bare eye<\/strong>. That’s the nature of this clarity.<\/p>\n

\nIf it was Flawless, you wouldn’t see anything inside the stone<\/strong>, not even under 10x magnification (what they grade diamonds with). Flawless means there are virtually zero imperfections<\/strong> inside or outside of the diamond.<\/p>\n

Flawless is Perfect<\/h2>\n

\nFlawless diamonds are the best clarities<\/strong> (Flawless; FL<\/strong>, and Internally Flawless; IF<\/strong>) that you can buy. Which also makes them quite rare<\/strong> and very expensive<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
