It’s a common enough question<\/strong> that jewelers get asked:<\/p>\n

\n“What wrist do you wear a wrist watch on?<\/strong>“<\/p>\n

\nNormally, the wrist watch is worn on your non-dominant hand<\/strong>. This is because your dominant hand is generally doing something… Lifting, holding, twisting, hammering, working<\/strong>… While the non-dominant hand is just waiting<\/strong>, in limbo, as a back up<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nSo it’s much easier to glance at that wrist when you need to know the time, versus stopping what the good arm is doing, setting things down<\/strong>, just to flop your wrist over and scan the dial.<\/p>\n

Makes Sense, doesn’t it?<\/h2>\n

\nIt’s particularly useful for nurses<\/strong> who take pulse with their dominant hand, and count seconds with the other (or you could just be timing yourself doing the cinnamon challenge<\/a>, just saying).<\/p>\n

\nPlus, most wrist watches are made for the left hand anyway <\/strong>(It’s a fact that 90% of the population are right-handed<\/strong>). So watch makers put the stem and crown on the right side<\/strong> of the face to make setting the time, day, date easier (as well as winding it<\/strong>, in the olden days).<\/p>\n

\nSome watch manufacturers do make left-handed watches<\/a> (with the stem and crown on the other side), but it’s generally not something you’d find in a jewelry store, these are usually ordered online HERE!<\/a><\/p>\n

Still, the left hand isn’t always the definitive answer<\/strong> (it is true though, that the Fitbit, and other pulse taking, heart tracking devices<\/a> work better on the non-dominant arm<\/strong>)…<\/p>\n

\nSome people just like to wear the watch<\/strong> on the right hand. <\/p>\n

\nAll because of this…<\/strong><\/p>\n

It feels Comfortable<\/h2>\n

\nThat’s a choice they make<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nMaybe they were given a watch as a kid and wore it there, got used to it<\/strong>. Or maybe it just felt better (especially if you broke your left hand<\/strong> and putting a watch there bothers you). Or hey, you could just like the look and style<\/strong>… It doesn’t matter. Wear it where you like<\/strong> and don’t worry what other people do or say (they probably won’t notice anyway).<\/p>\n

Just be more Careful…<\/h2>\n

\nFor a watch on the dominant hand will take much more abuse<\/strong>, be hit, struck, smacked, and you could possibly damage the watch, crack the crystal, break the band<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

All in all, it’s really up to you.<\/h2>\n

\nNow, for those people that wear the face of their watch upside down<\/strong> (on the inside of their wrist)…<\/p>\n
