Lovely Half Carats!<\/h2>\n

\nHalf carat diamonds are a decent size of stone<\/strong> to buy. Especially when you consider that the average engagement ring <\/strong>selling weight is just 33 points<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nHalf carats are 50 points of glorious diamond<\/strong>. They look great in a solitaire mounting<\/a>, but it looks grander <\/strong>if set in a pave mounting<\/a>, or a halo mounting<\/a>, where it makes the diamond look even bigger and better<\/strong> (although it does increase <\/strong>the price).<\/p>\n

Half Carats in the Center<\/h2>\n

\nThat’s a half carat of diamond in the center, and additional carat weights <\/strong>in the mounting.<\/p>\n

So, what will a 1\/2 carat cost you?<\/h2>\n

\nFirst off, it all depends on where you buy it<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nNaturally<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nIf you buy it from a mall store<\/strong>, chances are you’ll get a low quality<\/strong> diamond (but a not so bad price<\/strong>). If you shop online at James Allen<\/a>, for the same price, you’ll get a much better <\/em>quality!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Starting Prices…<\/h2>\n

\nPrices for half carats generally start around $700<\/strong> and go all the way up to around $2,000<\/strong> (depending on cut, color, clarity, certification, polish, symmetry, fluorescence…)<\/p>\n

\nIt seems like a lot to regard, which is why I’m going to simplify the entire shopping experience<\/strong>. I’m going to select a good popular color<\/strong>, which is G<\/strong> (the high end of the Near Colorless<\/strong> range), and E<\/strong> as well. E is pure white, very bright, and a top-of-the-line<\/strong> diamond color.<\/p>\n

\nIn the prices shown below, I have made sure that the cuts are the best there is (Excellent<\/strong>), the Polish and Symmetry are Excellent <\/strong>as well, and the diamonds have NO fluorescence<\/strong> (which mall stores won’t even tell you). These are great diamonds<\/strong> that have tons of sparkle and brilliance<\/strong>, the only thing that changes is the clarity<\/strong>; from I1 Clarity (visible flaws<\/strong>), to IF Clarity (Internally Flawless diamonds). This is to show you how clarity impacts the cost of a half carat and to give you a better idea of what to expect<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nThere’s only a few hundred dollars difference<\/strong> between G and E (So by all means, buy the E<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

But what about Fancy Cut Diamonds?<\/h2>\n

\nFancy cut stones are all the other diamond cuts<\/strong>, other than the round brilliant cut (meaning; princess<\/strong>, oval, heart<\/strong>, pear, radiant<\/strong>…)<\/p>\n

\nThese cuts are generally less expensive<\/strong> than the round diamond. It’s a great way to get the same carat weight, but save a lot of money<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nThe clarities and colors and carat weights are slightly different<\/strong>, but they’ll give you an good overall on what you’ll find<\/strong>…<\/p>\n
