Shopping online?<\/h2>\n

\nSome people shop online, others don’t<\/strong>. Won’t! They refuse too<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nSome will only buy small trinkets<\/strong> online, cheap bracelets, silver rings, 10 buck things<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nBut when it comes to big purchases<\/strong>, like diamond engagement rings, they’d rather go to the local jewelry store<\/strong>, see them in person, hold them, touch them, try them on<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

I get it…<\/h2>\n

\nIt’s a lot of money<\/strong>, and spending that much online without seeing the real product first is scary and intimidating<\/strong>. People don’t want to get ripped off.<\/p>\n

\nBut I’m here to say, there is nothing to fear of shopping online;<\/strong><\/p>\n

That’s if you shop smart, and buy wisely.<\/h2>\n

\nBecause the reasons why you should consider it, outweigh the reasons not to<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

So let’s jump in…<\/h2>\n

\nFirst things first… Only buy from reputable places!<\/strong> Stores like James Allen<\/a>, Blue Nile<\/a>, Kay Jewelers<\/a>, Jareds<\/a>, Fred Meyer Jewelers<\/a>, Helzberg<\/a>, Zales<\/a>; the big national chain stores<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nThese are places that have been around for eons<\/strong> and have excellent warranties, guarantees, and return policies<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\n(A return policy allows you to get the diamond checked out and verified<\/strong>… Just to assure yourself that everything is on the up and up<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\nAnd the best way to do this:<\/strong><\/p>\n

BUY CERTIFIED!<\/h2>\n

\nOkay, a brief pause…<\/strong> These stones aren’t actually “certified<\/strong>“, they’re only graded by outside independent source<\/strong> (like GIA, AGS, EGL, IGI…), and they come with a slick diamond grading report (actually called a “diamond report<\/strong>“)…<\/p>\n

\nBut everyone still calls them “certified<\/strong>“, and there’s really no way to change people’s minds. It’s just easier to say “certified<\/strong>” since that’s what they’ve been taught for over 100 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“BUY CERTIFIED!” “BUY CERTIFIED!”<\/h2>\n

\nBut, and here’s a BIG BUT<\/strong>… Be careful of which diamond report<\/strong> you get. For there is only ONE<\/strong> that I would truly recommend: GIA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nGIA is the Gemological Institute of America<\/a>. They are the experts that wrote and devised the 4C’s<\/strong>. They made the grading system that all of America uses to grade diamonds by:<\/p>\n

Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight.<\/h2>\n

\nThey are the most strict<\/strong>, most technologically advanced company in the world. Meaning, when they say a diamond is a certain color and clarity<\/strong>, you can be assured that it’s truthful and accurate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nAll of the other grading companies (especially IGI and EGL<\/strong>) are much more lax<\/strong> and not so precise<\/strong> (and this is just my opinion through 30 years of experience<\/strong>). Their grades are usually “bumped higher<\/strong>” and questionable<\/strong>. I wouldn’t trust them.<\/p>\n

\nSo the #1 rule to buying online is:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Only Buy GIA Diamonds!<\/h2>\n

\nThat’s the #1 way<\/strong> to prevent getting ripped off and not be taken<\/strong> or scammed.<\/p>\n

\nBy buying GIA loose diamonds, you can not only preview the diamond report online<\/strong>, but also verify <\/strong>the actual findings with GIA themselves.<\/p>\n

GIA’s Online Checker<\/h2>\n

\nGIA has an online report checker<\/a> that lets you put the diamond report number in (listed right on the diamond report), and it will pull up the exact diamond grades<\/strong> for that particular diamond. <\/p>\n

Like the example below…<\/h2>\n

\nIt’s a wonderful system<\/strong> that allows anyone, at anytime, to verify their diamond<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nAnd it doesn’t matter if you buy it from a local jewelry store, or buy it online<\/strong>. Their website checker checks and confirms that GIA diamond report number and pulls up the official grades in their data system<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It’s Awesome!<\/h2>\n

\nBeing able to check your diamond is peace of mind<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nBut the BEST reason<\/strong> to shop online:<\/p>\n

The PRICE!<\/h2>\n

\nWhen you cut out the middle man<\/strong>, cut your overhead<\/strong>… You CUT the price down plenty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Compare the Prices Below…<\/h2>\n

\n\"Compare<\/p>\n

\nYou see, the savings are real!<\/strong> (James Allen<\/strong> and Blue Nile<\/strong> are so much cheaper for the same diamond qualities: 1 Carat Round, SI1, E<\/strong>…)<\/p>\n

So my Advice is this:<\/h2>\n

\nBuy a loose certified GIA diamond<\/strong> through James Allen<\/a> or Blue Nile<\/a> (and I lean more towards James Allen<\/strong> because you can see the real diamond online, magnified in 360\u00b0<\/strong>, before you buy it). <\/p>\n

\nAnd then, after you select which diamond you want (I usually advise a quality of SI1+, G-H+, Triple Excellent Cut, with No Fluorescence<\/a>)… Have it set into the mounting of your choice<\/strong> (I’d opt for the solitaire mountings<\/a>, pave mountings<\/a>, or halo mountings<\/a>)… Get the stone and LOVE it!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nThat truly is the best way to shop online<\/strong>, and the best way to buy a diamond engagement ring<\/strong> (and save money<\/strong> at the same time).<\/p>\n
