It&#8217;s the exact same DNA as any other genuine diamond. Some things will require special tools and equipment and the proper lighting to <strong>get the correct grades<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>\nAnd even glancing at a diamond report (<strong>a.k.a. certificate<\/strong>) doesn&#8217;t always help either. Because some certificates are <strong>lax<\/strong>, inaccurate, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jewelry-secrets.com\/Blog\/what-is-diamond-grade-bumping\/\">grade bumped<\/a>, and <strong>downright WRONG!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><h2>Which is why I always say&#8230; Stick to GIA!<\/h2>\n<p>\n<strong>GIA or AGS&#8230;<\/strong> These grading companies are <strong>the best<\/strong> and the most strict and accurate in their field.<\/p>\n<p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jewelry-secrets.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/The-Only-Two-Diamond-Certificates-To-Ever-Buy.jpg\" alt=\"Certified Diamond Reports\" title=\"Certified Diamond Reports\" width=\"640\" height=\"1024\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-23739\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jewelry-secrets.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/The-Only-Two-Diamond-Certificates-To-Ever-Buy.jpg 640w, https:\/\/www.jewelry-secrets.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/The-Only-Two-Diamond-Certificates-To-Ever-Buy-63x100.jpg 63w, https:\/\/www.jewelry-secrets.com\/Blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/The-Only-Two-Diamond-Certificates-To-Ever-Buy-188x300.jpg 188w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\nCompanies like <strong>IGI, EGL, and Gemex<\/strong>, are more loose when it comes to grading (as well as <strong>confusing<\/strong>). Their reports are <strong>not so factual<\/strong> and could be off by <strong>whole grades or more<\/strong>. Meaning; you may think a stone is a better quality than it is. Also meaning; <strong>you paid too much for that stone!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><h2>But still, you don&#8217;t really need the paperwork&#8230;<\/h2>\n<p>\n<strong>You can judge a stone with your own eyes<\/strong>, as well as look under a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2kwTzmN\">microscope<\/a>. If it looks yellowish (turn the stone over and <strong>look through the side or base<\/strong>), then it&#8217;s probably a lower color diamond (like <strong>K, L, M, N<\/strong>). If it looks white, it&#8217;s probably (more than likely) a <strong>near-colorless<\/strong> or a <strong>colorless <\/strong>diamond, since they are the most popular color ranges on the market.<\/p>\n<p>\nIf the stone has <strong>visible flaws<\/strong> (using no magnification or <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2kwSI5G\">10x jeweler&#8217;s loupe<\/a>), then it&#8217;s a lower clarity like <strong>I1, I2 or I3<\/strong> clarity. But if you don&#8217;t see any flaws (<strong>inclusions<\/strong>, black spots, <strong>clouds<\/strong>, feathers, <strong>fractures<\/strong>, chips) with the bare eye, then it&#8217;s probably <strong>SI clarity or higher<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\nIf the stone looks <strong>dark or dull<\/strong>, with <strong>little or no sparkle<\/strong>, then the cut is bad (<strong>poor make<\/strong>). If it&#8217;s <strong>sparkling like crazy<\/strong>, the cut is probably good, very good, or excellent!<\/p>\n<p><h2>Judging diamonds gets easier the more you do.<\/h2>\n<p>\nAnd by <strong>comparing different quality<\/strong> of stones side by side, you can usually pick out the better ones.
