10k or 14k?<\/h2>\n

\nCan you tell the difference?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nChances are, if you laid 2 gold chains down side by side, the average person (without looking at the stamp<\/strong>) would never be able to tell if the chain was 10k gold or 14k gold<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It’s true!<\/h2>\n

\nLook at these two chains below<\/strong> and see if you can really tell the difference?<\/p>\n

\nNow a jeweler <\/strong>or experienced person<\/strong> could probably see a slight difference at a glance, and you may as well… But it is slight!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nThe top left chain is 10k gold<\/strong>. It’s just a bit less yellow than the other (which isn’t always the case. Gold can vary in hue and color<\/strong> depending on the manufacturing process of that chain).<\/p>\n

\n14k gold has 4 parts more gold<\/strong> than 10k, making it more yellow in tone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nBut it is such a slight difference that most people would never notice<\/strong> (nor care).<\/p>\n

So why is 14k gold more popular?<\/h2>\n

\nBecause it has more gold content<\/strong>. People like gold. The richer the better. 14k is a wonderful combination that is lustrous<\/strong>, durable, and highly malleable<\/strong>. Jewelers love working with it! <\/p>\n

\n10k gold on the other hand has more alloy content<\/strong> making it harder to manipulate <\/strong>and is more pale<\/strong> in color.<\/p>\n

The more gold content you have, the more yellow<\/strong> that gold will look. Which is why 24k gold<\/strong> (pure gold), is very, very yellow<\/strong>… not to mention softer<\/strong> (which is why alloys are added to gold to make it more durable for jewelry)!<\/p>\n

\nSo 14k has more gold<\/strong>, more yellow<\/strong>, and more value<\/strong> (Making it more expensive<\/strong>)!<\/p>\n
