You know that little Instruction Booklet<\/strong> you got when you Purchased your new Watch?<\/p>\n

Have you ever looked at it?<\/h2>\n

The booklet is usually Generic Instructions<\/strong> that’s good for all of the Companies Basic Watches. It gives directions on how to Operate the Watch, Set the Time<\/strong>, Date, and any other mechanism that the Watch may have (Stop Watch, Alarm<\/strong>…).<\/p>\n

\nThis Manual is probably in a couple of different languages as well, in case English isn’t your cup of tea<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nLike my Tag Heuer Watch for Example<\/strong>. Along with the Padded Case and Box, I received the Instructions & Guarantee Card<\/strong>, and the Precious Stones Certificate Card as such…<\/p>\n

\n\"Tag<\/p>\n

\nThe Instructions show you how to Set the Time and Date<\/strong>, like this…<\/p>\n

\n\"Tag<\/p>\n

\nAnd then we get to the good stuff…<\/strong><\/p>\n

The LIMITED WARRANTY!<\/h2>\n

\nTag Heuer’s Limited Warranty for my Watch is below. Also note that I purchased this Watch about 8 or 9 years ago…<\/p>\n

\n\"Tag<\/p>\n

\nAll Watch Booklets like this, no matter what Watch you buy, or where you buy it, should come with Warranty Information<\/strong>. Most people don’t realize this, but if you flip through the Instructions, you’ll see what the Watch Company or Manufacturer covers and what they don’t<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nAnything you may need done to your Watch is just either a Phone Call away, or, as in Tag Heuer’s case, they’ll give you an Address to their nearest Repair Center<\/strong> that you can send your Watch to. Many large Watch Companies have multiple locations and service centers all across the United States.<\/p>\n

What’s Required<\/h2>\n

\nSome of these companies require you to send in a copy of your receipt<\/strong>, along with the Warranty Card<\/strong> or Slip (fully filled out), the Serial Number, and of course the Watch (Insured no doubt!<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\nSome may even require a Return Authorization (RA) Number<\/strong>. So read the Instructions well and see what they want from you BEFORE <\/strong>you hand over your Watch.<\/p>\n

WARNING!<\/h2>\n

\nIf you open the back of the Watch, to replace a Battery<\/strong> (or have a Jeweler replace the Battery or Cell), this will normally VOID the Warranty<\/strong>, and the Repair Center will not fix your Watch for FREE<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

\nThey all pretty much want to be the only ones to work on your Watch until the Limited Warranty is finished. Just a word of Warning!<\/strong><\/p>\n

What Repair Centers Do<\/h2>\n

\nRepair Centers will look at your Watch, determine what’s wrong with it, and either go ahead and fix it under Warranty<\/strong>, or contact you back with the repair details and the price<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nSome Repairs are not under Warranty<\/strong>, and if you want your Watch fixed, you must pay the price<\/strong>. The price is never negotiable<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

\nMost Companies give the Movement of the Watch (the Guts<\/strong>) a One Year or Two Year Limited Warranty (Limited because the Warranty runs out).<\/p>\n

\nDo note that this usually only covers the Movement under normal wear and tear. If you abuse your Watch<\/strong>, Step on it, Bang it up, Crack the Glass or Seal, or get the insides wet <\/strong>(so they rust<\/strong>), chances are, the Warranty will be VOID <\/strong>and none of the repairs will be covered.<\/p>\n

You really can’t blame them either!<\/h2>\n

Also note that most Watch Warranties only cover the Movement and NOT the Case<\/strong>, Crystal or Watch Links.<\/p>\n

\nSo if your Band Breaks, or you Run it over with the Car, you’re on your own!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAnd depending on the type of the Watch, some Repairs could get Very, Very Pricey!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nSometimes they get so expensive to repair, that it’s cheaper just to buy a new Watch!<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We’re Unable to Fix your Watch!”<\/h2>\n

\nNow if your Watch is still covered under the Manufacturer’s Warranty, and for some reason they are unable to fit it… (Say that particular Watch is Discontinued<\/strong>, or the parts are not available anymore), if they can’t Repair it, they will usually offer to Replace your Watch with a Similar Style or Similar Priced Watch.<\/p>\n

\nThis is normally done at No Charge to you<\/strong>, or if there is one, it’s usually just a Minimal Upgrade Fee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nSome companies will call you with the Estimate<\/strong>, or send you a Postcard <\/strong>with the information listed asking for your Approval or Disapproval<\/strong> for the work.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s up to you!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nYou have to determine if it’s worth the cost<\/strong>, or if you should just dump the Watch and buy a new one.<\/p>\n

\nSome repairs run in the hundreds, and you can certainly buy a lot of new Watches for that price range.<\/p>\n

Repair Centers<\/h2>\n

\nNow, just in case you don’t have your Warranty Slip or Instruction Booklet, and you don’t know where to send your Watch<\/strong> (Usually the Jewelry Store that sold you the Watch can help you or send it back to the dealer for you, as long as they’re an Authorized Retailer<\/strong>), I’ve gone ahead and put together a huge Watch Company Repair Center list below, that puts all the most popular Watch Brands, Makes and Models with their call center information right here at your fingertips<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nCall the Companies for further details, visit their Website<\/strong>, or send your Watch to them (Insure it and Track it). Their Official Website usually goes into more detail on what to do.<\/p>\n

Turn Around Time<\/h2>\n

\nTurn around time for repairs is NOT FAST<\/strong> though. Usually it takes anywhere from 10 days to 3 weeks just to get the Quote or Estimate back on your Repair. And then, once it’s Approved, it can still take an additional 2-3 weeks <\/strong>to fix it, and that’s saying that they have all the parts on hand and don’t need to special order any.<\/p>\n

\nIf you approve the work, have your Credit Card handy<\/strong>, or mail them a Check if they so desire.<\/p>\n

\nIf you don’t Approve the Repair, they’ll mail you back your non-working Watch<\/strong>. Sweet!<\/p>\n

One more word about Repairs…<\/h2>\n

\nUsually the Watch Company will Guarantee their Repairs for a limited time<\/strong> (3 -6 Months, or even a Year). That means if the actual Repair they did happens to Break or Stop running once again, due to the same exact problem<\/strong>, they’ll Repair the Watch at No Cost or Charge to you.<\/p>\n

\nIf the Watch needs anything different to fix it, expect to pay!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nSo if your Watch doesn’t Run, is Broken, Busted, or Rusted… Call the Repair Centers below<\/strong> and get your Watch Ticking!<\/p>\n

\nBecause time stops for no one! <\/strong>:)<\/p>\n

\nP.S. <\/strong>Something else you didn’t know you could do… Call them to get additional Links for your Watch<\/strong>. That’s right! If your Watch Band is too Snug and you need to add in a couple more Links, you can contact the companies, and they will probably be able to send you some (just provide them the Model Number and Color<\/strong> of your Watch). Of course, most will charge <\/strong>for these, but where else are you going to get them?<\/p>\n

\nDon’t fret though, some of these manufacturers will send you some links for FREE!<\/strong> It all depends on the Brand, Company and style of Watch you have. Some may limit the number of links you get (say 3 or 4). But it’s better than nothing. :)<\/p>\n
