\nWhat a crazy study…<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nA new study from Western Oregon University<\/strong>, from Springer\u2019s journal Evolutionary Psychological Science<\/a>, found that men were willing to spend MORE money<\/strong> on an engagement ring if the woman was prettier<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Men being pigs?<\/h2>\n

\nSeems like it<\/strong>, but this price hike stems from something deeper…<\/p>\n

SUCCESS!<\/h2>\n

\nMen correlate ‘success<\/strong>‘ with the good life<\/strong>; having a great paying job, a beautiful wife, a loving family, the whole white picket fence<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nSo beauty and success are tied in together as one, that is, in this hypothetical ‘dream’ situation<\/strong>. None of it was real.<\/p>\n

But it’s interesting to think about<\/h2>\n

\nI’ve been selling engagement rings for over 30 years, and I’ve never noticed anything of the sort. Granted, I usually deal with the man who is buying ‘the ring’ to surprise her<\/strong>, but still, if you’re pretty you’d get a much bigger and better diamond???<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s hard to imagine<\/h2>\n

\nEven though I’ve heard that beautiful people do get promotions quicker<\/strong>. They make more money than their average looking co-workers… They move up the ladder easier<\/strong>. It’s a principle called “the pleasure of dealing with good-looking people<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

I get it…<\/h2>\n

\nThe center of attraction…<\/strong> The life of the party… But what about the men?<\/strong> Do they feel they have to spend more in order to keep such an attractive female? Buy her love?<\/strong><\/p>\n

NO! It’s not only the men…<\/h2>\n

\nThis same study also found that this spending spree wasn’t one-sided<\/strong>… They found that prettier women expected a much more expensive diamond ring<\/strong> as well (that blows the whole theory out the window).<\/p>\n

Prettier people presume it!<\/h2>\n

\n“Desirable women expect greater resource investments from their mates<\/strong>.”<\/p>\n

Well I’ll be…<\/h2>\n

\n(Isn’t that a Gold Digger?<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

\nEven though you often see beautiful women dating ugly men all the time (in it for the money?<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

\nGood thing this study was a hypothetical one<\/strong>… Because given the circumstances of rings, prices and pictures of pretty women, I’d suspect you’d want to impress too<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Especially if it was make believe! Right?<\/h2>\n

\nTreat her like a real princess<\/strong>… Live happily ever after<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nWould looks make you spend more?<\/strong><\/p>\n
