Just like rectangle, triangle, heart, teardrop. <strong>Those are shapes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><h2>So what is cut?<\/h2>\n<p>\nCut (of the <strong>4 C&#8217;s<\/strong>) is referring to the way the diamond is <strong>faceted and proportioned<\/strong>. Or truthfully, it&#8217;s <strong>a diamond that will knock her socks off<\/strong>. That&#8217;s what you really want. An &#8220;<strong>excellent grade<\/strong>&#8221; will give you that.<\/p>\n<p>\nColor isn&#8217;t as important. As long as <strong>it&#8217;s not yellow <\/strong>you&#8217;ll be fine (stick with <strong>G-H or higher<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>\nClarity isn&#8217;t a big issue either. Stick with <strong>SI or better<\/strong> and you&#8217;ll have a great diamond, with <strong>no visible inclusions<\/strong>. Plus, SI clarity is <strong>a very affordable clarity<\/strong> and a wise choice since it looks just like a more expensive diamond.<\/p>\n<p><h2>Fixing the cut problem:<\/h2>\n<p>\n<strong>To fix cut confusion<\/strong> it would have to be one that the entire diamond industry adopts. They (we, jewelry stores) would have to stop using the word cut in cutting styles like <strong>brilliant cut<\/strong>, <strong>princess cut<\/strong>&#8230; And just refer to them as brilliant, princess, pear, cushion&#8230; Or call them actual shapes: <strong>brilliant shape<\/strong>, princess shape, pear shape&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><h2>Cutting out cut may be the solution<\/h2>\n<p>\nMaybe people wouldn&#8217;t get confused or mislead if we separated the terms?
