\nYou bet. But some of this leakage is good<\/strong>, and other leakage is bad<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nFirst off, what is leakage?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nLeakage is when light enters a polished diamond<\/strong>, bounces around internally, then exits the diamond once again<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nMuch of this bouncing is done on purpose<\/strong> to get the diamond to sparkle.<\/p>\n

\n\"Excellent<\/p>\n

\nDiamonds are cut in such a way to utilize light, bend it and refract it around into rays of white light<\/strong> (called brilliance) and colored light<\/strong> (called fire). This is good leakage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It’s the “life” of a diamond.<\/h2>\n

\nThis is why we love diamonds. We get lost in their beauty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nBut when those rays of light don’t reflect back into your eyes, and they get lost out of the bottom or side<\/strong> of the stone, then the result is bad leakage<\/strong>. A shallow diamond or diamond cut too deep that doesn’t exhibit light well and can look rather dull, dreary, and dark<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nIf the diamonds are too shallow<\/strong> or too deep<\/strong> (meaning, the stone isn’t cut well), then it’s a sad waste of carat weight<\/strong> and money<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nGranted, poor cuts like these keep the price down<\/strong>… But everyone wants their diamond to sparkle, right?<\/p>\n

\nSo if you don’t pay attention to the cut of the diamond you’re buying, then you could actually get a diamond lacking life<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

What to look for:<\/h2>\n

\nTo get a diamond that leaks light properly<\/strong>, lean towards an “excellent<\/strong>” cut diamond, like this True Hearts diamond here…<\/p>\n
