People love<\/strong> eternity rings\/bands<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nBut I’m actually here to say, I don’t advise buying them<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nSure they look really, really nice. The diamonds go all the way around<\/strong> the band in a never-ending continuous row of bling (whatever gemstones you choose). If you ring spins, it still looks the same<\/strong>. So smooth and sleek…<\/p>\n

What’s not to love?<\/h2>\n

\nPlenty!<\/strong> There are many reasons why buying an eternity band is not recommended<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Eternity ring downfalls:<\/h2>\n

  1. Thicker Bands<\/li>\n
  2. Not so Comfortable<\/li>\n
  3. Can’t be Resized<\/li>\n
  4. Paying More<\/li>\n
  5. They Damage Everything<\/li>\n
  6. More Repairs<\/li>\n
  7. They aren’t Perfect!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \nNow let’s break it down and take a closer look<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

    1) Thicker Bands<\/h2>\n

    \nThese types of rings have bands that are the same thickness<\/strong> all the way around. And, depending on the carat weight you choose, that thickness will be determined by the depth of the diamonds<\/strong>. Really big carat weights will need a much thicker band.<\/p>\n

    2) Not so Comfortable<\/h2>\n

    \nThicker bands are not comfortable. That thickness, the part that circles your finger<\/strong>, may not feel comfortable against your bones. That thickness presses right into the side of your fingers<\/strong> and your palm. They smart!<\/strong> A normal band, which is thinner and tapered on the sides and bottom, feels much better on the skin. It’s more comfortable<\/strong> than any eternity ring.<\/p>\n

    3) Can’t be Resized<\/h2>\n

    \nThey can’t be sized?<\/strong> That’s right. Because the ring has no end, no sizing bar<\/strong>, they can’t be sized to fit your finger. Rings like this have to be special ordered<\/strong> in the correct size (which could take up to 6 weeks). Eternity rings may not come in all sizes<\/strong> either (like 1\/4 sizes)… And then, say 10 years down the road, if you eat too much chocolate<\/strong> and your ring doesn’t fit anymore, it can’t be sized. There’s no way to size them. You’d have to buy another ring<\/strong> (So if you buy an eternity ring, hope you never gain or lose weight!<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

    4) Paying More<\/h2>\n

    \nRings with this many diamonds require more labor<\/strong>, more diamond matching, and more gold<\/strong>. And what sucks about this is the fact that half of what you’re paying for is hidden<\/strong>. Your fingers cover up the sides and the bottom of the ring. So you’re paying for something you can’t see<\/strong>. And not only that, but all of the diamonds get smaller as well. A 1.00 carat eternity ring<\/strong>, versus a 1.00 diamond band<\/strong> gives you a totally different look. One has little-itty-bitty diamonds in it, the other has much larger stones.<\/p>\n

    5) They Damage Everything<\/h2>\n

    \nBecause the diamonds, prongs, mounting, stones, go all the way around, you’ll not only do more damage to the ring<\/strong>, but also everything you pick up<\/strong>. You’ll catch the prongs on clothing, sweaters, gloves, and hair… and you’ll also crush the stones<\/strong> by lifting up heavy objects. They could pop right out of the mounting.<\/p>\n

    \nAnd, because the diamonds are on the bottom, you’ll hit them on filing cabinets<\/strong>, keyboards, staplers<\/strong>, the K-cup machine, pots and pans<\/strong>… everything! Everything it comes in contact with could damage the prongs<\/strong>, break them off, bend them back<\/strong>, warp the channels, push the stones in<\/strong>, break them, loosen them<\/strong>, lose them… It’s endless what could happen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    6) More Repairs<\/h2>\n

    \nIt’s a fact<\/strong>; the more diamonds and prongs you have, the more that ring will cost you in repairs<\/strong>. 20 prongs versus 100 prongs is a big difference in price. Plus, with the stones on the bottom getting banged up, you’ll constantly have to get them inspected, checked, tightened, repaired, replaced… It all adds up<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    \nAnd lastly…<\/strong><\/p>\n

    7) They aren’t Perfect!<\/h2>\n

    \nEternity rings are never perfect<\/strong>. Depending on your finger size, and the size of the stones (the carat weight you want<\/strong>), you could end up having an odd looking gap<\/strong> between the stones. This is because the width of the stones, sitting side by side, may not be the perfect mm width<\/strong> for the ring size you need. You could see something like this…<\/p>\n

    \nSo while eternity rings are popular<\/strong>, trendy, and beautiful…<\/p>\n

    I don’t advise buying them!<\/h2>\n

    \nGet yourself a regular diamond band<\/a> (which can be sized properly<\/strong>), and you’ll be much happier<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    \nDiamond bands like this<\/a> look bigger<\/strong> (for the same carat weight), last longer<\/strong>, but they’ll feel much better<\/strong> on your finger.<\/p>\n
