\nDon’t be fooled though, this game is not as easy<\/strong> as it sounds. For all of these diamonds are different carat weights, colors, clarity, cuts, shapes (and shapes can really make a diamond cheaper<\/strong>)…<\/p>\n

\nSo deciding which stone sells for exactly $4,000<\/strong> (at the time of this post), could be difficult<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

So let’s begin. Can you tell which diamond is $4,000?<\/h2>\n

So which diamond is it?<\/h2>\n

\nReady for the answer?<\/p>\n

\nIt’s diamond number 2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nAND… diamond number 4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nIn fact. It’s actually diamonds 1 – 12<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nYou see, they are ALL $4,000<\/strong> right on the dot. Every stone sells for the same price, but they all look and appear so visually different.<\/p>\n

\nThat’s because there are so many factors that go into the price<\/strong> of a diamond. And if a stone has a high clarity, usually the color will be lower. Likewise if the color is high, the clarity is generally lower. With mother nature it’s often a give or take. Strengths and weaknesses<\/strong>. All diamonds have them. Plus, any attribute can affect price: fluorescence<\/strong>, certification, pavilion angles<\/strong>, girdle thickness, where the inclusions reside, what color the flaws are<\/strong>… They all play a huge role in the final cost of the stone.<\/p>\n

\nWhat this all means, is that shopping for price alone can result in a billion different variables<\/strong>. The diamond could look great, or not so great. It could be yellow, dark, lifeless, or it could sparkle like crazy<\/strong> and look absolutely beautiful.<\/p>\n

So HOW do you shop for diamonds?<\/h2>\n

\nTo shop for diamonds the correct way, do your homework first<\/strong>. Read up on diamonds (check out my ultimate diamond guide here<\/a>), and decide which color and clarity you’d like. Figure out what cut appeals to you. Look at all the different shapes. Narrow it down. And once you get a set of specifications in mind, then you can shop and compare easily<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Compare apples to apples!<\/h2>\n

\nOnly when you compare similar stones, will you truly see what $4,000 (or whatever dollar amount<\/strong>) can get you. And, you’ll also see who is giving you the better deal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nAre you interested in SI1, E<\/a>? (One of the most popular clarity and color<\/strong> combinations on Earth). Or do you lean towards VS2, G<\/a>?<\/p>\n

Does size matter? Hearts and arrows?<\/h2>\n
