\nFrom the lowest <\/strong>clarity and color grades, to the highest<\/strong>, or best.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s I clarity versus Flawless.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Compare the diamonds below:<\/h2>\n

\n\"Compare<\/p>\n

\nGranted, I1 is not the lowest clarity<\/strong> (I3 is), but most diamond retailers do not like to carry the worst quality<\/strong> of stones, because, frankly, they don’t look good<\/strong>. They lack brilliance and sparkle and life. And I2 and I3 diamonds can have enormous inclusions<\/strong>, black spots, cracks, fractures, fissures, and other imperfections that could fill, and rid the diamond of any beauty whatsoever.<\/p>\n

\n\"Lowest<\/p>\n

\nSo most retailers will carry I1 clarity<\/strong> (the highest of the included diamonds), because they face up better<\/strong>, will often look like more expensive stones<\/strong> (as you’ll soon see), and are priced affordably<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nBut for most included stones (if you’re not careful), the difference in appearance <\/strong>and value <\/strong>is extreme<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nThis is why people tend to stick with more popular color and clarity ranges<\/strong>, like SI and VS, and Near Colorless or higher (SI1 is the most popular clarity grade on the market<\/a>).<\/p>\n

\nBut, like I said, if you look hard enough<\/strong>, you can find a great looking I1 clarity diamond<\/a>, and when compared with a Flawless, it doesn’t look that different<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

\n\"Really<\/a><\/p>\n

You see the difference in price?<\/h2>\n

\nSo it’s not really buying the worst diamond<\/strong>, it’s being picky and choosing a stone that visually looks appealing<\/strong> (the diamond above has eye-visible flaws<\/strong>, but they are white and blend in with the stone more), has a decent cut (I recommend excellent<\/strong>), and tons of sparkle and fire.<\/p>\n
