It’s true…<\/h2>\n

\nWatches don’t hold their value<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nYou’ll find this out if you ever try to sell your watches back<\/strong> to the jeweler… They’ll give you nothing <\/strong>for them.<\/p>\n

\nThis is because they are worn<\/strong>, scratched, plated<\/strong>, fading, loose<\/strong>, used…<\/p>\n

They can’t be resold!<\/h2>\n

\nUnlike jewelry that can be polished up again<\/strong> and made to look new; watches can’t<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nYou can’t polish them up (unless they’re stainless steel). The gold plating is coming off<\/strong>, it’s eroded, the hinges are worn, the buckle dented, nicked, dirty.<\/p>\n

\nIn other words, there’s nothing you can do with them<\/strong>. It doesn’t matter if the watch is a $600 Movado<\/strong>. It’s used. You won’t get a penny for it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nJewelers don’t want to buy them back, they don’t need them<\/strong> or want them (which is why you should never wear a watch<\/strong> if you get it as a gift and don’t like it<\/strong>. If you scratch the watch, buckle, bracelet, you can’t return it<\/strong>). Customers would never buy a wrist watch that’s scratched up. That’s why jewelry stores only buy gold and diamonds<\/strong> (not even gemstones). Gold and diamonds can be repurposed and resold (at estate pricing<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\nBut, nonetheless, there are some exceptions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Watches that do hold their value:<\/h2>\n

\nThere are some wrist watches that do hold their value<\/strong>, even after wear and tear (which is usually 20-50%<\/strong> of the retail value). Watches that are made better<\/strong>, stronger, quality watches like: Audemars Piguet<\/strong>, Rolex, Breguet<\/strong>, Patek Philippe, Hublot<\/strong>, Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre<\/strong>, Breitling, to name a few.<\/p>\n

These watches can be refurbished and resold<\/strong>. People love them (and are willing to own a used one at a discount<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Watches that don’t hold their value:<\/h2>\n

\nFor everyday, name brand<\/strong> (Seiko, Citizen, Bulova, Pulsar…), base metal, plated<\/strong>, common, inexpensive watches, there is no hope<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n\"Wrist<\/p>\n

\nYour best best at selling these is to find a friend or family member<\/strong> who is willing to buy them. That, or a garage sale<\/strong>. But don’t hold your breath, for you can buy inexpensive watches at Walmart for $10, and watches on Amazon for just 1 penny<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nThat may be the only way that time equals money<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
