Is there really a difference between a diamond that’s cut “good<\/strong>” and a diamond that’s cut “great<\/strong>“?<\/p>\n

\nTo find out, let’s compare diamonds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nI’ll show you a bunch of diamonds with a “good<\/strong>” cut grade, all of the exact same clarity and color (SI1, E<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Take a peek:<\/h2>\n

\nYou can see from these pictures that the symmetry and light balance<\/strong> of these stones are all over the board<\/strong>. Some look good, some look dark, some are unappealing and lack any true beauty<\/strong> or sparkle.<\/p>\n

There is no consistency.<\/h2>\n

\nNow let’s compare them with “excellent<\/strong>” cut grades (the best GIA gives<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Do you see a difference now?<\/h2>\n

Notice how much brighter and similar they appear?<\/h2>\n

\nNot only do excellent cuts appear brighter, whiter<\/strong>, but the patterns are more evenly distributed<\/strong>. Many even show the distinct arrows pattern<\/strong>, that perfectly cut diamonds have.<\/p>\n

\nThis is not something that’s noticeable on a diamond report<\/strong>. It’s something you have to see for yourself<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It’s a visual test.<\/h2>\n

\nJust by looking at the diamonds you can quickly see why excellent graded diamonds appear better. This is often the case.<\/p>\n

\nBut, some “good<\/strong>” cut diamonds look great <\/strong>as well. Like in the diamonds above, some face up like much higher priced stones<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nDiamonds are like people. Everyone is different<\/strong> and gives off unique characteristics<\/strong> and projects light differently. Some disperse more brilliance, fire, and sparkle.<\/p>\n

It’s a fact.<\/h2>\n

\nThe point is, there is no exact line drawn in the sand between good and great. Some are close enough to be identical <\/strong> to the best cuts in the world (which is great for your pocketbook<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\nPlus, other things come into play, like symmetry, polish, and fluorescence<\/strong>. They can all affect how visually stunning a diamond appears.<\/p>\n

\nSo what you must do, is inspect them<\/strong>. Compare them. Don’t rule anything out<\/strong> until you see them with your own eyes.<\/p>\n

\nBecause diamonds are all about looks, brilliance, and price<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nGood verses great, could you tell the difference? Maybe, if you looked at enough of them. But some diamonds will absolutely fool you<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
