\nIt’s typically not a great diamond color<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nBut the funny thing is, almost all of the diamonds found on Earth are either yellow or brown in hue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nDiamonds graded K-Z are yellow<\/strong>, from light to dark.<\/p>\n

\nEven diamonds graded I-J<\/strong> have some slight tint<\/strong> to them (although they’re harder to detect). This is why diamonds G-H or higher (like these diamonds here<\/a>) are more prefered diamond colors<\/strong>. All the rest can look old<\/strong>, dingy, stained<\/strong>, and antique. Not very desirable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Fancy is a different story.<\/h2>\n

\nWhen diamonds go beyond Z<\/strong> on the color grading chart, they are called fancy color<\/strong>, or fancies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nThese colors can be yellow<\/strong> (caused by trace elements of Nitrogen<\/strong>), brown, black<\/strong>, blue, green<\/strong>, pink, red<\/strong>, orange, purple<\/strong>, and gray.<\/p>\n

\nAnd with fancies, yellows and browns are still the most common color hues<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nFancies are graded in different degrees of color, distribution, and strength.<\/p>\n

Fancies are rare and expensive…<\/h2>\n

\nWhich is why most mainstream jewelers carry “enhanced<\/strong>” diamonds instead.<\/p>\n

Color enhanced diamonds:<\/h2>\n

\nEnhanced diamonds are where man adds heat<\/strong> to the stones to intensify the colors (and even change the colors; like yellow into blue, or brown into green). The results are spectacular<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
