Spooky Diamonds?<\/h2>\n

\nWell, maybe not entirely spooky, but they do glow in the dark<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nI’m talking about diamond fluorescence<\/a>, of course. The natural phenomenon<\/strong> where diamonds can glow under a UV black light<\/a>. It’s cool, and kind of creepy.<\/p>\n

\nDiamond fluorescence is a common characteristic found in some diamonds. Some glow, some don’t. The amount of glow is graded from faint to strong<\/strong>, just like the diagram below…<\/p>\n

\nAnd whether your diamond glows, shows on the diamond certificate, just like this:<\/p>\n

\nThis trait normally doesn’t affect a diamond much, nor does it change it’s value<\/strong>, unless, unless it alters the visual appearance of the stone in natural light. Sometimes, fluorescence can make a diamond look foggy<\/strong>, hazy, cloudy <\/strong>or milky just by looking at the stone in daylight <\/strong>with your own eyes. If that happens, it can make a diamond look dull, lifeless<\/strong>, and dead (even though it could be the best clarity and color in the world).<\/p>\n

\nAnd unless you actually view a diamond with fluorescence physically, you may never know if the diamond looks cloudy or not. You could buy a diamond that looks like the ones below, and only find out after the fact that it looks weird<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nThis is why I advise being cautious buying diamonds with fluorescence<\/strong>. Faint fluorescence is probably a safe bet. But anything stronger may be visible and noticeable.<\/p>\n

\nSo while fluorescence is an interesting and curious subject<\/strong>, it’s just Mother Nature giving diamonds some impurities and nitrogen<\/strong>, that’s all.<\/p>\n

\nBut, there are “SPOOKY<\/strong>” diamonds in the past…<\/p>\n

Diamonds with actual curses!<\/h2>\n

\nDiamond curses are often associated with legends and superstitions<\/strong> rather than actual documented occurrences.<\/p>\n

\nDiamonds from ancient history that could drive diamonds right into the horror movies<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

Just like these frightful curses below…<\/h2>\n

  1. Hope Diamond Curse:<\/strong> The Hope Diamond, a famous blue diamond, is believed to be cursed. According to the legend, the curse originated from its theft from a Hindu temple in India. It is said that anyone who possesses or wears the diamond will face misfortune, including financial ruin, illness, and even death.<\/li>\n
  2. Koh-i-Noor Curse:<\/strong> The Koh-i-Noor diamond, which means “Mountain of Light” in Persian, is another renowned gem with a reputed curse. This diamond has a long history and has passed through various hands, including Indian and British monarchs. It is believed that the curse brings bad luck to male owners but grants good fortune to female owners.<\/li>\n
  3. Black Orlov Curse:<\/strong> The Black Orlov, also known as the Eye of Brahma, is a large black diamond that is said to carry a curse. According to the legend, the diamond was originally an eye of a Hindu deity idol, and its removal incurred a curse upon all who possessed it. Several owners of the diamond are said to have met untimely and tragic ends.<\/li>\n
  4. Curse of the Cullinan Diamond:<\/strong> The Cullinan Diamond, the largest rough diamond ever discovered, is said to have a curse associated with it. This curse allegedly brings bad luck to anyone who owns or wears a piece of jewelry containing the diamond. However, it’s worth noting that the Cullinan Diamond has been divided into several smaller stones, many of which are part of the British Crown Jewels and have not brought any ill fortune.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \nBut, it’s important to remember that these stories are based on folklore and superstition rather than factual evidence<\/strong>. The supposed curses associated with these diamonds add mystery and intrigue to their histories, but they should be taken with a grain of salt.<\/strong><\/p>\n
