A dot represents a short signal or &#8220;<strong>dit<\/strong>,&#8221; while a dash represents a longer signal or &#8220;dah.&#8221; Each letter is separated by <strong>a short pause<\/strong>, equivalent to the duration of one dot, and each word is separated by <strong>a longer pause<\/strong>, equivalent to the duration of seven dots.<\/p>\n<p>\nFor example, the Morse code for &#8220;HELLO&#8221; is &#8220;&#8230;. . .-.. .-.. &#8212;&#8220;.
