If you ask people what the most important aspect<\/strong> of a Diamond is, you’ll hear all sorts of answers:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n“It’s the Clarity of a Diamond<\/strong>, of course!”<\/p>\n

\n“It’s the Color<\/strong>, White looks Better and Brighter!”<\/p>\n

\n“It’s the Carat Size<\/strong>, Bigger is Better!”<\/p>\n

\n“The Diamond needs to have Excellent Cut Proportions<\/strong>!”<\/p>\n

\n“It must be Certified<\/strong>!”<\/p>\n

\nWell I’m here to tell you…<\/strong><\/p>\n

You’re all Wrong!<\/h2>\n

None of these are the most important aspect<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

\nSo what is?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Brilliance and Sparkle!<\/h2>\n

\n\"The<\/p>\n

\nAbove all else, how much Light, Fire and Scintillation<\/strong> a Diamond gives off is the ultimate goal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nThat light, those flashes of both White Light and Colored Light is called the “Life<\/strong>” of a Diamond. Without Life, a Diamond would look Dull, Dark<\/strong> and resemble any other rock from the garden <\/strong>(not so pretty).<\/p>\n

\nThis Life is what sets Diamonds apart from the ordinary<\/strong>. It’s what makes our eyes veer towards it and dream about it and get lost in its inner beauty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Sparkle is King!<\/h2>\n

\nThat end result is what most people care about. How does it look to your eyes?<\/strong> How does it look on your hand? How much does the Diamond Sparkle<\/strong>?<\/p>\n

\nYou want that Diamond to Sparkle and Shine. You want to stare at those flashes forever and feel the love it symbolizes<\/strong>. Most people go through life judging things by sight (first impressions<\/strong>). Diamonds are no different.<\/p>\n

\nIt doesn’t matter what the Certificate <\/strong>says. It doesn’t matter if it has an Ideal Cut<\/strong> or Excellent Polish<\/strong>… It all comes down to Sparkle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nThe better the Sparkle, the more we love it<\/strong>. The more we love it, the more it makes us smile and dance inside.<\/p>\n

\nHow the Diamond gets that Sparkle is a wildly detailed course and an in depth topic called “Cut<\/strong>“. Diamond Cut<\/a> is what creates those beautiful Sparkles<\/strong>, Brilliance and Fire in a Diamond.<\/p>\n

\nNow you could argue that Cut is the most important Diamond Aspect<\/strong>, and I’d have a hard time disagreeing with you. After all…<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cut is the Most Important C of the 4 C’s<\/h2>\n

\nCut<\/a> certainly trumps Color<\/a>, Clarity<\/a>, and Carat Weight<\/a> by a long shot.<\/p>\n

\nBut you don’t look at a Diamond and say to yourself “That Diamond has a Table Percentage of 58%<\/strong>“… Oh NO!<\/strong> Instead, you’ll say “What a beautiful Diamond, just look at how it Sparkles in the light<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

\nThat’s what truly matters<\/strong>. You have to have Sparkle and lots of it!<\/p>\n

\nThat’s why GIA revised their Cut Standards<\/strong> and came up with their new Cut Grades<\/a>. They realized that Diamonds of all different Cuts and Proportions can still achieve Great Sparkle and Brilliance<\/strong>. Ideal Cuts, Super Ideal Cuts, it doesn’t matter<\/strong>… It now has to deal with light performance and how the stone visually looks<\/strong>. Angles, Percentages, Mathematical Proportions… BAH! <\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s Sparkle!<\/h2>\n

\nThis is a great thing because that Sparkle is what you’re going to be staring at for the rest of your life<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s not whether the Girdle is “Medium<\/strong>” or the Culet is “Small<\/strong>“… It’s Sparkle!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAlways judge a stone first by its visual appearance<\/strong>. If the Diamond is full of Life and Beauty and Sparkle, then proceed to learn more. Dig in!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nBut if the Diamond looks Dull and Lifeless<\/strong>, pass it up. Move on!<\/strong> (No matter how good the Diamond Deal is!)<\/p>\n

\nBecause if your Stone doesn’t Sparkle, then really, that Diamond isn’t worth buying!<\/strong> :)<\/p>\n
