1.50 Carats (A Carat and a Half<\/strong>), is a GREAT <\/strong>size of Diamond to buy.<\/p>\n

1.50 (150 Points) looks HUGE!<\/h2>\n

\nAnytime you get into Carat Weights above 1.00, they really do look very grand and very impressive<\/strong>. It will make her Girlfriends Jealous!<\/strong> :)<\/p>\n

\n1.50 is the half way mark between One Carat and Two Carats. It allows you to get an incredibly large stone, but still stay somewhere in the affordable range<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nAfter all, if you’re looking at stones this size, you’re probably doing pretty well financially<\/strong>. You probably already have a great Career, a great House, a Luxury Car (or 4) and everything else you could think of.<\/p>\n

\nDiamonds like this are a Luxury <\/strong>as well. <\/p>\n

\nVery few women will ever own one or wear one in their life.<\/p>\n

Welcome to the Elite Club!<\/h2>\n

\nBuying 1.50 Carats is a Huge Investment and one that should not be rushed<\/strong>. Take your time to really study the 4C’s<\/a>: Cut<\/a>, Color<\/a>, Clarity<\/a> and Carat Weight<\/a>… You already got the Carat Weight handled!<\/strong> :)<\/p>\n

\nHere are a few pointers<\/strong> to help you decide which stone to buy. Things that not many people would think about.<\/p>\n

I See Black Spots<\/h2>\n

\nIn Diamonds this large (approx. 7.25 mm<\/strong>), Inclusions and Flaws are much easier to spot<\/strong> with the naked eye.<\/p>\n

\nSo even though I normally advise buying an SI1 or higher in Clarity<\/strong>, the truth is, even in an SI1 Clarity Diamond you MAY see the flaws without magnification<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nThat’s just how large Diamonds go<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nThere’s more to see and small Pinpoints, Lines, Clouds and Carbon Spots get easier to spot.<\/p>\n

\nThis isn’t always the case with SI1 Diamonds. In fact, most people won’t see anything in an SI1 stone without 10x Magnification<\/strong> (Jeweler’s Loupe<\/a> or a Microscope<\/a>). But some will!<\/strong> (Some People really do have Bionic Eyes!<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

Unless the Flaws and Imperfections fall beneath the outer facets of the Diamond (not directly under the Table), they could be seen if you look really hard or have really great eye sight.<\/p>\n

You may have to step up into higher Clarity, like VS2, to assure that your small Flaws remain invisible!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Color is Intense!<\/h2>\n

\nThe larger the Diamond is, the more Color will be seen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nWhen Color covers a larger area of mass, the Color deepens and is more visible<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Hence a J Colored Diamond will look more like an L or an M<\/strong> in Color.<\/p>\n

\nEverything in a larger stone gets more exaggerated and noticeable<\/strong>. I would advise sticking with G or H<\/strong> (or higher) just to make sure the Yellow Hue stays away!<\/p>\n

Girdles Chip!<\/h2>\n

\nDiamonds this big take a lot of abuse<\/strong>. You can’t help it, it’s big!<\/strong> It gets hit and bumped more often. The Diamond stands up higher off the finger and the Girdle<\/a> (edge) of your Diamond becomes Vulnerable to Damage<\/strong>. You have to be more careful and have it cleaned and inspected more often.<\/p>\n

\nYou also run the risk of pulling back your prongs<\/strong> (the things that help protect the Diamond Girdle), bending them and breaking them off.<\/p>\n

\nGood Preventive Medicine<\/strong> would be to purchase a Diamond with a Thin-Medium (or just Medium) Girdle. This gives the Diamond a little bit more of an edge (versus None or Thin) and keeps it from chipping through normal wear and tear.<\/p>\n

\nA Diamond with a Very Thin Girdle, or No Girdle could cause you a lot of problems, headaches and money in the future.<\/p>\n

\nCheck the Girdle<\/strong>, try not to get too Thin (or too Thick for that matter).<\/p>\n

Get your Diamond Insured!<\/h2>\n

\nNot that I need to say it<\/strong>, but I do. Many people believe that all they need with their ring purchase is a Diamond Guarantee (some stores offer Lifetime Guarantees<\/strong>) to protect their stone. This is silly thinking!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nAnything can happen to that stone that a Warranty won’t cover:<\/strong><\/p>\n
