Your Watch stops running<\/strong>, so you open up the back of the Watch to change the battery<\/strong> out…<\/p>\n

\nThe problem is…<\/p>\n

The Watch Battery is BLANK!<\/h2>\n

\nThere are No Numbers, Names or Letters<\/strong> on the Battery to identify it. Nothing at all!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nJust a blank battery<\/strong> that leaves you filled with tons of questions<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nHow can you replace a cell when you don’t know which one it is? <\/strong><\/p>\n

\nI have an entire list of Watch Batteries in my Conversion Chart<\/a>, but it doesn’t help you in the least if you don’t have a starting point<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nThere are tons and tons of different sized batteries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

You Can’t Simply Guess!<\/h2>\n

\nPlus, putting the wrong type of battery in your Watch could harm it!<\/strong> It could short circuit<\/strong> the board.<\/p>\n

\nAnd it’s not like you can even take the blank battery into a store and hold it up to the ones on display<\/strong>. It’s too hard to tell. The millimeter <\/strong>could be off by just a tad. There’s a lot of batteries that look similar<\/strong>. They could even be the exact same width as well, just much deeper in thickness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nAnd this happens to Jewelers as well. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve opened up a Watch Case and found a blank battery inside<\/strong> (this happens a lot with Inexpensive Watches).<\/p>\n

So what do we do?<\/h2>\n

\nWe pull out our Watch Battery Size Selector<\/a>! :)<\/p>\n

\nThis selector is a piece of plastic<\/strong> that has numerous slots <\/strong>(or openings<\/strong>) of different sizes and widths down the side of it.<\/p>\n

\nAll you have to do is to take your blank battery and find the slot that fits it the best by pushing your cell through<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nOnly one slot will be the exact match<\/strong>. When you find that perfect slot, look at the battery number beside it. BINGO! <\/strong>It works like a charm. You now know the battery it takes!<\/p>\n

\nThis is what Jewelry Stores use<\/strong>. It’s the simplest, quickest and easiest way to always know what battery your Watch takes.<\/p>\n

\nI do remember a few times though when I’ve gone to grab the Battery Selector only to have it come up missing. ARG!<\/strong><\/p>\n

That’s No Fun!<\/h2>\n

\nSo I literally had to put the blank cell side by side with other batteries<\/strong> until I finally found the right one that matches.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s actually not that bad for a Jeweler to do. After all, we do have all the Watch Batteries in stock<\/strong>, loose, and separated in different compartments (think a fishing tackle box with labels<\/strong>). It works, but it’s still time consuming<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nI will say though, after 23 years of changing Watch Batteries every single day, I have gotten quite good at it<\/strong>. I can usually just look at a battery and know which number<\/strong> it is. That comes from years of experience so I can narrow it down pretty quickly.<\/p>\n

It Converts Too!<\/h2>\n

\nIf you want to know what your Battery Number is… (I have a Conversion Table Here<\/a>), and the battery is blank, by all means, pick up this nifty inexpensive tool<\/strong> from Amazon<\/a>\"\" and your Watch will be ticking in no time.<\/p>\n

\nThis selector also works great when locating a battery with a different manufacturer<\/strong> (and it works perfect with Lithium Batteries<\/strong> as well).<\/p>\n

\nDifferent Manufacturers (like Renata, Everready, Panasonic, Toshiba, Duracell, Energizer, Maxwell, Sony, Rayvoc, and CR Series) use all the same size of battery, but put different Numbers, Letters and Names on the back. <\/p>\n
