Grown men come into the jewelry store to shop for their diamond engagement ring<\/strong>, and what do many do?<\/p>\n

They bring their parents!<\/h2>\n

Why do they do this?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I don’t know.<\/h2>\n

\nIs there anything that screams “mama’s boy<\/strong>” more than this?<\/p>\n

Okay, maybe that’s harsh, but let me tell you…<\/p>\n

\nParents are the worst people to bring to the jewelry store<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Why?<\/p>\n

“Because I said SO!”<\/h2>\n

\nYes… Just like that; They are always right.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nYou can’t dispute them. What they say goes (sound familiar?)<\/p>\n

\nParents also have a tendency to be confrontational with jewelry salesman<\/strong>. This is because they are looking out for their son’s best interest. They don’t want him to get ripped off<\/strong> or spending too much.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

\nI get it…<\/p>\n

\nThey have to show the jeweler who is boss.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Put their foot down…<\/h2>\n

\nIt happens all the time!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n“Cheaper<\/strong>…” They’ll say, “You’ll have to make it cheaper.<\/strong>“<\/p>\n

\nParents will never let you spend as much as you want.<\/p>\n

\nIf you were thinking about buying a $6,000 diamond ring<\/strong>, they’ll talk you into spending $1,500 instead<\/strong> (for a lower quality, lower grade, smaller diamond). Why?<\/strong> Because your mom had to wait 20 years<\/strong> to get her “big rock<\/strong>” and so should you.<\/p>\n

\nPlus, $1,500 is plenty enough to spend on your darling fianc\u00e9e, isn’t it?<\/strong> After all you don’t want to go into debt do you? Plus your bride-to-be shouldn’t have a diamond bigger than your mom’s<\/strong>, now should she?<\/p>\n

“Get her a mounting like mine.”<\/h2>\n

\n(Because that’s in style…)<\/p>\n

\nSigh! After helping thousands of grooms over the last 20 years, some of them have brought in their know-it-all parents<\/strong>. The funny thing is… Parents never pick out the right type of ring<\/strong> anyway.<\/p>\n

\nIt’s true!<\/strong> They’ll pick out crazy, gaudy pieces that your fianc\u00e9e will HATE<\/strong>. The fact is, parents are old school. Behind in the times. They are out of touch with today’s modern jewelry (and prices) and the next generation of diamond engagement rings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nThey have no clue.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nOld fashioned ways and sticker-shock<\/strong> is a sure way to make a future wife, an unhappy wife.<\/strong><\/p>\n

My advice:<\/h2>\n

\nLeave the parents at home.<\/p>\n

\nDo your homework and shop by yourself<\/strong>, or bring your best friend, or even her girlfriend along.<\/p>\n

\nYou’ll be very happy that you took the time and picked out the right ring for the love of your life. Your fianc\u00e9e will be thrilled that she got the ring she’s always dreamed of<\/strong>, and that the groom picked out the perfect ring himself (and not your mother<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\nPlus it’ll be an even more rewarding experience because you’ll be well rounded and educated in diamonds<\/strong>, the 4 C’s, and diamond certification<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nTrust me, you’ll love it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Diamonds are fascinating and romantic…<\/h2>\n

\nLearning about them is a great experience. But having your parents telling you what to buy “Because she doesn’t need an expensive ring…<\/strong>” isn’t the way to go!<\/p>\n

\nLeave them at home<\/strong> and you’ll be able to make your own decisions and your own purchases. <\/p>\n

After all, it is your future.<\/h2>\n

\nAnd that’s worth every penny.<\/strong><\/p>\n
