Best and worst?<\/h2>\n

\nIt’s the best tennis bracelet because it made women fall in love<\/strong> with diamond bracelets, and jewelers sold tons of them.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nThe s-link started a trend that still continues today. Women could wear beautiful diamond bracelets that were popular, stylish<\/strong> and most of all, affordable<\/strong>. It opened people’s eyes to tennis bracelets with whole new looks and bold designs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

But the tennis bracelet failed…<\/h2>\n

\nTennis bracelets brought failure<\/strong> to the diamond market, it’s what I call The s-link tragedy.<\/strong> S-link tennis bracelets became all the rage. They became so popular, that just about every jewelry vendor in the world started making cheap knock-offs of them<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\nAnd as the years went by, these diamond bracelets got worse and worse<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

\nCheaper mountings, thinner mountings, lower quality diamonds<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

Ultimately it doomed the s-link bracelet.<\/h2>\n

\nThe market was so saturated, that eventually every woman had one<\/strong>. When it began a 2.00 carat diamond s-link bracelet<\/a> was a $2,000 investment<\/strong>. Then it quickly dropped down to $699<\/strong> because of quality and competition<\/strong>. Putting in low grade diamonds did the trick.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nToday I’m sure that you could probably get a 2.00 carat bracelet for under $500<\/strong>… That’s low grade! <\/p>\n

And when I say low grade, I mean it:<\/h2>\n

\nThese diamonds looked like chunks of salt and globs of glue<\/strong>. They had visible clouds in them and huge black carbon spots<\/strong>, and most were an ugly shade of yellow or brown. Plus, many were chipped or broken<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

I’m serious.<\/h2>\n

\nIf you louped these cheap knock-offs with a microscope<\/a> or a 10x jeweler’s loupe<\/a>, you’d GASP <\/strong>at how bad these diamonds were. You’d see how badly the diamonds were set<\/strong>, some were crooked<\/strong>, and I’ve even seen some set upside down<\/strong> in the mounting. <\/p>\n

A lot of them were pure junk.<\/h2>\n

\nIt didn’t used to be like that<\/strong>. I’ve seen some really nice quality s-link bracelets<\/strong> out there. Bracelets with big carat weights<\/strong> and high clarity diamonds. I’ve seen some with heavy, well constructed mountings<\/strong>. It sure beats those crappy thin mountings in some of today’s s-link bracelets. You could pick some of them up today and they’d be so thin that you could squish them between your fingers<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

So here’s some good advice:<\/h2>\n

\nIf you see an s-link (cookie-cutter<\/strong>) diamond tennis bracelet in a jewelry case today, think twice…<\/strong><\/p>\n
