They can lose rings and double bill you.

Things happen.

Get over it!

Every type of business messes up sometime or another.

But how do you know if you’re dealing with a good or bad jeweler?

I believe the answer goes deeper than what the jeweler actually DID at the time. Because like I said, every jeweler has chipped a stone or lost a ring.

These problems in itself don’t make a jeweler good nor bad. Instead, it’s how they deal with the situation that determines good from bad.

I’m your best friend…

Every jeweler is always your “best friend” when you walk into the jewelry store. This is true for any type of store.

The salespeople are all smiling and eager to assist you. Everyone’s all laughing and having a really good time. Why wouldn’t they? They’re selling jewelry and taking your money, and making commissions.

As long as the cash register rings, they have a smiley face. It’s fun. It’s educational. They may even make purchasing a diamond engagement ring memorable. But that doesn’t make them a good jeweler.

NO! It’s the problems and how they solve those that make them a good jeweler. A jeweler that stands out from the crowd.

How they deal with problems is key.

When you go back to them with a concern or a problem, you’ll see their true colors.

Ever try to return something?

Ever get a rude salesperson with a crappy attitude because of that?

YES!

It’s almost like a 2-sided coin. They’re happy to take your money, but curse you for doing exchanges or returns or even fixing things. If you go back with a broken prong or when your white gold turns yellow, or a stone falls out, this is when you’ll really see who you’re dealing with. Are they really looking out for you? Jewelers that do what it takes to keep their customers happy are the good ones.

I’d be happy to help you.

You’d think businesses would know that it’s hard to get customers in the door, let alone keep them. If the jeweler helps you, if they return your jewelry with no problems or hassles, if they fix broken items or any issues with the same enjoyable attitude, then they are A+ in my book.

You never will truly know if a business is a great business until you see how they handle their problems.

Hassle much?

If they give you a hassle, if they give you attitude, if they make excuses, if they shrug you off, if they treat you like crap, if they’re rude, if they turn their backs on you…

Walk away!

You deserve better.

Walk away, never look back, and never go back. Word of mouth is an effective tool, but actions equal results. Never give them any more of your business… Period! That’s the only way bad jewelers will get the message.

Find a jeweler that will handle sales and returns and problems and concerns without batting an eyelash.

A jeweler that can consistently shine under pressure, handle issues, and still keep you happy no matter what, will keep you coming back for more.

Because that’s the mark of a good jeweler.

Cheers! :)

All jewelers are good jewelers.
