What is that thick, white, mountain of crud<\/strong> on your earring posts?<\/p>\n

Cottage cheese?<\/h2>\n

Ladies and gents, what are you thinking?<\/strong> <\/p>\n

\nWhy don’t you clean your earrings?<\/strong><\/p>\n

You know, those gold and diamond things you put in your ears that you forget about for 8 months?<\/p>\n

They get dirty.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Real dirty.<\/h2>\n

\nI can’t tell you how many times a customer will take off their earrings and hand them to me with big, chunks of earring goop<\/strong>, gunk, whatever you want to call it, stuck to the ends of the posts. <\/p>\n

White foreign substance…<\/h2>\n

\nI don’t get it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some earrings get so bad that the little holes in the earring backs get filled up with junk as well.<\/p>\n

\nI’m here to tell you…<\/p>\n

I’m not touching them!<\/h2>\n

It’s DISGUSTING!<\/strong><\/p>\n

I know, I know, that’s the whole reason you’re here in the jewelry store, to get them cleaned.<\/strong> I get it. But, come on, why only clean them once a year?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Can you imagine what your clothes would look like if you never washed them?<\/p>\n

\n*GAGS!<\/strong><\/p>\n

I’m going on earring goop strike.<\/h2>\n

What’s funny is the fact that people know this. <\/p>\n

\nThey feel bad about it.<\/p>\n

\nThey smile and get embarrassed and try to wipe the debris off the earrings before they hand them to me… <\/p>\n

Too late.<\/h2>\n

\nI’ve already seen them (and retched<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\nI’ll have nightmares about them later…<\/p>\n

\n

Why put anyone through this?<\/h2>\n

\nCan’t you clean your earrings more often?<\/strong> Or bring them to a jeweler more often so we can clean them in the ultrasonic cleaner<\/a>. You know, like once a week, or at least once a month?<\/strong> That way it keeps the grime from building up and getting nasty and groossssssss!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Earrings get hair sprays and perfumes on them, soaps and shampoo, it’s a natural part of life, for sure. But they need to be scrubbed and cleaned just like everything else does.<\/p>\n

Do this:<\/h2>\n

\nTake some jewelry cleaner solution<\/a> (or a little Ammonia and warm water<\/strong>) and an old toothbrush<\/strong> and gently dab at them. Scrub underneath the diamonds or gems. Get into the baskets and between the prongs and mounting.<\/p>\n

Get the gunk out.<\/h2>\n

\nKeeping your earrings clean not only makes your diamonds look brand new again and sparkle like the day you bought them, but it also keeps your posts from tarnishing<\/strong>, staining, turning dark or black and getting brittle or weak. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Weak?<\/h2>\n

That’s right. Jewelry that gets dirty can wear down faster because the metal will corrode.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So take your earrings off and clean them good. <\/p>\n

\nGet all that foreign whatever-it-is off your posts and backs. And then maybe you won’t feel so embarrassed and have to make excuses when you pull your earrings off and there’s 6 month old potatoes<\/strong> growing there.<\/p>\n

Yes, this sounds gross, but believe me, it is!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nIt’s gross and it smells.<\/strong><\/p>\n

I’M NOT TOUCHING IT!<\/h2>\n

I don’t know where your ears have been…<\/p>\n

\nMud bath?<\/p>\n

GAGS! <\/h2>\n

\nHorrors, I tell you, horrors!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nBetter get your toothbrush…<\/strong><\/p>\n

There’s some heavy cleaning<\/strong> to do…<\/p>\n
