Remember when you could buy a ring for a quarter? <\/p>\n

\nYou know, those little plastic rings<\/strong> out of a vending machine? <\/p>\n

\n(They always came in a plastic capsule egg<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n

When I was a kid, I had one. <\/p>\n

\nA black spider ring<\/a><\/p>\n

I loved it!<\/h2>\n

\nMy sister though, she hated <\/strong>it. <\/p>\n

\nWell, she hated all spiders<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

When did things change?<\/h2>\n

\nWhy aren’t those 25 cent plastic rings<\/strong> good enough for adults? <\/p>\n

\nKids have no problems with them…<\/p>\n

My sister would wear this plastic jewel rings<\/a> that had a 5 carat gemstone. She would laugh and say someday she’d own the real thing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Isn’t plastic a ‘real’ thing?<\/h2>\n

Does ‘real’ actually mean real expensive?<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Would we feel dumb if we wore those plastic rings and jewelry now? <\/p>\n

\nWhat about a Mickey Mouse watch?<\/a><\/p>\n

“Hey, wait a minute…<\/h2>\n

\nI own a Mickey Mouse watch…<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

The point is, as we grow up, so do our tastes. Everything in life is like that. We upgrade to bigger and better things. Apartments to homes. Small cars to luxury cars. 1 dog to 5 dogs, 2 cats, a bird and 2 kids… (some of us upgrade to the extreme<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n

Diamonds and jewelry is no different.<\/p>\n

They need upgraded too.<\/h2>\n

When was the last time you upgraded yours? <\/p>\n

\nFor many people it’s never.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

\nSome people get a ring and wear that same ring for the rest of their lives.<\/p>\n

This is all fine and dandy, but don’t you think that the diamond ring you bought 30 years ago deserves a face lift?<\/strong> 30 years ago you bought what you could afford. Now that you can afford better things, so why don’t you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I know, kids education<\/strong>, paying off that truck<\/strong>, the second mortgage<\/strong>, braces<\/strong>, a patio deck…<\/p>\n

But no time is any better than the present.<\/h2>\n

Seriously. In fact, now is the best<\/strong> time for an upgrade because jewelers are hurting<\/strong>. The economy has taken its toll on the industry and stores are feeling the pain. \nSooner or later the rates and prices will go up<\/strong>. There is no better opportunity than now.<\/p>\n

Look at your rings. Aren’t some of them tired and worn?<\/strong> <\/p>\n

\nAncient?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wouldn’t a nice, big diamond ring do the trick? <\/p>\n

\nMaybe a new mounting? Different metal? White gold perhaps? Rose gold? Something creative, modern and fun?<\/p>\n

I say go for it.<\/h2>\n

\nIt doesn’t need to be expensive<\/strong> or elaborate. No one is saying spend your life-long earnings (although you could). Just spend enough to upgrade nicely. Get the next step up<\/strong>. A little bit bigger diamond. Something that will carry you for another 20 years. Why not?<\/strong><\/p>\n
